So the first friendly's after the WC are set for Sept 01-09, 2014. Who would you all like to see as Klinsmann's first 23 of the 2018 WC cycle? Donovan may retire from international soccer right after the WC, and I wouldn't be surprised if Dempsey follows suit, so with that in mind I am not including those two on my proposed 23.

Here is my proposed 23:

GK: Sean John, Guzan, Howard

Defense: Chandler, Yedlin, Packwood, Besler, Brooks, Gonzo, Klute, Fabian

CM's: Holden, Powers, Diskerud, Bradley(Captain), Williams

Attackers: Zardes, Holmes, Arriola, Agudelo, Aron, Gil, Gatt

I'm on board with that except I don't want to see Timmy. It's Guzan time. And get Holmes out of there and include Boyd.

But I also don't think players like Jones/Demps/Dono will sit these out. The next Gold Cup will be their swan song.

Guzan time? Timmy has made no indication of stepping aside. Klinsmann will make that switch if he feels it's necessary in the next WC cycle.

I like Boyd, but with Klinsmann's preferred 4-2-3-1 system there is no need for so many strikers. What is needed is more wide FWDS.

We all know I love Holmes too, but I would take off him Zardes and Arriola and put Zusi and Bedoya both on there, and in a perfect world, Julian Green (not perfect world the as of now somewhat bust, Brek Shea).

I think these friendlys will go a long way in showing once and for all of jk is completely full of crap or had a grand plan all this time. There's no reason to bring guys like Castillo, Beasley, beckerman, ej, Landon, Clint as they won't be in the picture come 2017 (hex, possible confed cup, gold cup) no need to bring guys in that can't help you when it matters

I would say Rowe, Deleon, Alvarez, Duka, Cascio, and Salgado but they're most likely going to have to wait till next Jan. Camp.

Wow 8 dual nationals, and 7 germans. ? Or Germericans. That squad still wont do nothing. Our current squad is wayy better.

4 people with 0 caps, 3 with 0 camps, 1 who's not even a citizen. Thats realistic

I really think he will break Cobi Jones' caps record before he retires. He's at 155 right now.

In all probability the Sept. Friendlies will be another WC squad tour...similar to what BB did after the 2010 WC. Add to the fact that 2015 GC is an important tournament to qualify for the 2018 Confederations Cup... I see most of the squad being from the 2014 squad, with maybe a couple young fringe players to replace some of the older statesmen.
IMO I think the squad will be:
Keepers: Howard, Guzan, Hamid/Johnson
Defense: Chandler, Yedlin, F. Johnson, Lichaj/Klute, Brooks, Packwood, Besler, Gonzalez
Midfield: Bradley, Cameron, Williams, Diskerud, Bedoya/Zusi, Shea, Green,
Strikers: Jozy, Boyd, Agudelo, Donovan, Dempsey

Forgot Aron Johannsson.....so would drop either Donovan or Dempsey to include him.

I think Donovan said himself he would retire from international play after the WC unfortunately. And honestly i think Dempsey should be started to get weaned out of the team by them. Maybe get a sending off game for all his contributions. Hopefully Chandler isn't in Jurgen ' dog house still if he is then I'd put Sarkodie instead of him. Zardes, Rowe, Joya, Cascio, and Gil are going to be ones to watch to be added. Personally I think Joya has a higher ceiling than Diskerud hopefully Mix proves me wrong though even Powers could be..

Yeah, LD knows Klinsy hates him so he'll want to run like hell after the WC. Petty, immature SOB. Klinsy, that is.
I always get a laugh because Klinsy thinks SoCal is the best place in the world to live too - that's why he's been living here the last 15 years. And he just won't let go of Lando not ever making a longer term commitment to Bayer, Bayern, or any other Euro team. It's a shame because Lando has always been one of the most intense, committed athletes I've ever seen. He's never had the head-case issues of some of these other guys (I just don't put the sabbatical in that "bad" category). Especially impressive since Lando was anointed a superstar back when he was 16.
