I'm too lazy to look up the Jozy Altidore thread so i'll put this here.

Does anyone here consider Jozy a flop at TFC? Yes, i am aware that he has 5 goals in 10 games but he scored a brace twice and once against Houston.

I will admit i haven't watched Jozy much since he joined TFC but from what I've seen, he doesn't seem to be dominant or much more skilled than other striker in MLS. He actually appears average or slightly above.

After watching him dominate in many games for AZ i expected to see the same in MLS. I just haven't seen that from him and even tho Defoe didn't wanna stay, Sunderland seems to have gotten the better deal.

Jozy will be ready. He'll probably be on the bench again tonight vs Montreal.

I think he'll have a good tournament. Make up lost time due to his World Cup injury

Is Rimando better than Hamid?
No, but Juergen....
....
.... the most irrational responses from US fans are Wondo and Adu.

Props for your counterpoints, even if I disagree. At least now I understand why another fan doesn't find it to be a bunch of missed opportunities.

Too early to tell. But flop is a strong word.
Also, for that first chunk of the season, TFC's defense was rough.
Once he's fully fit again, we'll see what's up.

Jozy had a nice goal tonight. I'll tell you who hasn't been a flop for Toronto, Sebastian Giovinco. He's been worth every penny so far. He'd get my vote for MVP if it were awarded today.

ussoccer.com: You've chosen a lot of players with a lot of experience. How important is experience in a tournament?
JK: "Going into a Gold Cup, especially in our region here, experience means a lot. You need players that stay calm in very emotional and very difficult and very tough battles. It can get nasty, things might not go your way in some moments, so you have to stay cool and you have to always be on top of things. I think the experience that players like Brad Guzan, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Chris Wondolowski, Nick Rimando have, just to name a few of them, those guys bring the experience with them to stay calm and get the job done. The Gold Cup really is about getting the job done and winning it and qualifying us for the Confederations Cup in Russia in 2017. That's why it's really crucial for us to have players on the roster that have tremendous experience."

Juergen is being more open about this team than he usually is, he said multiple times that winning this tournament is all about the 2017 Confederations Cup.

I don't get how someone can ask if Jozy is a flop for Toronto already.

Sure Jozy tore up the Eredivisie. But that was after being there for a year (maybe 2?). It's not like he went in and immediately dominated from game 1.

The MLS is different from the Eredivisie and EPL in game play. So there is always going to be an adjustment period. Especially when many of the other teammates are new and are developing chemistry as well.

Giovinco didn't start off red-hot either. It took him a few games to start getting hot (he started playing really well a couple of games before Jozy got injured.

Some people adjust real quickly. Some people take time to adjust. Even Great players can adjust slowly.

So is he a flop? I don't know ask me at the end of next season...

Jozy's game is predicated on those around him setting him up to strike it in the net. It's no surprise now that Giovinco has settled and with Bradley on top of his game, Jozy will always get goals. It's the rest of his play that is frustrating for the USMNT. His health is the issue now because at this point in his career, he is what he is.... Will his hammies hold up or will he keep getting that recurring injury? Hard to say.

Quite clear Tim Sherwood doesn't rate Guzan. Aston Cilla is trying to go after every Gk they can. Time for Guzan to get out of that situation. Sherwood is trying to get Asmir Begovic now. Effing ridiculous how Guzan is being treated.

Begovic will probably assure Villa he's going there and then turn around and go to United. Guzan definitely does not want to be riding the pine, this will only be his cycle if he's playing well and regularly at a high level.

its Europe american get treated like crap nothing new. One bad season and Guzan getting the boot? You dont see that with other nationalities . I mean examples like Balotelli or Falcao who get amounts of opportunities even if they dont meet expectations

Americans will always be discriminated in Europe. They don't want USA to become great that's their biggest fear.

He had one bad game. He wasn't having a bad season. Its ridiculous. I think a move to Germany would be good. Germans have no problem playing American players.

His resume is good enough if he were to move he should find a bunch of suitors to guarantee him a starting spot. He will have to leave England to do this unless he wants to drop a league as there appears to be no room at the inn in the BPL.

Chelsea also want Begovic so it will come down to whether Begovic wants a paycheck and a few cup games or to be a #1 for a mediocre/poor team
