What's up with Stu Holden this year? Is he healthy? I haven't heard much about him playing any preseason matches.

Stu probably won't be in contention to play for Bolton until September.

That's such a long time to be out. I hope he stays healthy for a while now.

The sooner the better! I see Stuart Holden as a mainstay in the National Team once he's gets fit.

How is anyone confident that after being out for over 18 months, Stuart Holden will be the same player?

If he comes back, it's a bonus.. but the team should be prepared to move on without him.

Holden comes back in roughly two weeks. Any thoughts on when he will break into the first team?

No idea

It's far from a sure thing that he comes back and is effective. I've seen this go two ways.

Jermaine Jones missed 18 months and is now starting for Schalke in the Champions League

Cory Gibbs was a very good player but after a serious of serious injuries, he was never even close to where he was before hand.

Looks like Holden may get some games in with Bolton.

They have recalled him prior to the end of his one month loan spell. Hopefully this means he is getting his form back. Sweet news for JK and USMNT.

Good to hear Stu! Should be a strong presence for Bolton next season too.

Forgot to post this earlier but Dougie Freedman expects Stu to be ready to start training in January.

Can Stu work a miracle and somehow get on the 2014 WC team? Don't know, but what I do know is that Klinsmann loves Stu. So, if Holden is getting regular minutes for Bolton in the second half of the season; you better believe Klinsmann will be monitoring Stu closely.

Why does Stu get a pass is my question. Stu is a great talent and I feel so sorry for his misfortune. But there are to many opinions on here about a players form, club play etc yet it appears Stu always gets a pass every time. If anything I hope the guy can stay healthy enough to just play soccer. For the USMNT IMO I think he's had his chances and thats that. We talk about players and their time from the game, a players age, and struggles to form. He will have to deal with ALL of these factors. He's not a keeper, and he's not a defensive back...time is not on his side for a number of reasons.

@Techskillz, I think it's because he is the most likely partner for MB in the next cycle, since Jones will be too old for the 2018 WC Klinsy will want to start blooding in the new guys. He may delay until after the next Gold Cup but Jones will not be featuring for the USMNT past that point.
