Gerzicich with 2 today for Kiryat Shmona in their 4-0 Champions League qualifying win over Neftci

They are going to move to the final qualifying round.

The dream run continues. What a great story Gerzicich has

Great game. Couldn't be happier. Does this move him into the picture? Not like this is the sole case, he's done well all year.

I think Klinsmann should give serious thought into calling up Gerzicich, he's playing for the best team in a surprsingly strong league, ranked 17th in the UEFA coefficiant- way above the likes of Norway and Scotland and only 2 spots below Denmark. While the CM spot is quite deep, I believe Gerzicich deserves a look, especially if Kiryat Shmona can navigate to the Group Stage.

Gerzicich would be a perfect Camp Cupcake participant, but unfortunately the Israeli league doesn't take a break in January. I couldn't see him called up for a qualifier for the first time, and I suspect both the Mexico and Russia friendlies will be as full-strength as possible, so he's in a pretty tough spot.

Kiryat Shmona is practically guaranteed to play in the group stage of at least the Europa League and has a shot at making the CL group if they can get through the play-off round. If he makes a good showing on the European stage - especially against some of the better teams - perhaps it would give Klinsmann reason to at least pull him into a camp to take a look.

Is Russia confirmed? I heard at one time it was by the Russian FA but (of course) US Soccer has not said a word save for Klinsy's snippet.

Hope Shmona get a good draw next round...we'll find out Friday. I can't see Neftci coming back from 4-0 down.

With Kiryat Shmona through, they will face one of the following teams in the playoff round:

FC Basel 1893 (SUI)
RSC Anderlecht (BEL)
Celtic FC (SCO)
FC BATE Borisov (BLR)
GNK Dinamo Zagreb (CRO)

Draw is on Friday.

It would be really something if they make the group stages of the Champions League
