I think KC are banking on a huge offer for him in his early twenties. I still think his path to first team soccer at a young age 18 to 20 is much more likely at KC than going over to Juve.

This kid could very well be starting for KC in a couple of years, especially if Matt Besler or Aurelian Collin are sold in the next two years.

Right now KC's CB depth is Collin, Besler, Opara, Plamer-Brown, and jack of all trades Lawerence Olum.

Besler will be gone for about a month maybe longer with the USMNT, and if Opara or Collin get any injuries this kid could very well find himself on the field for KC this up coming season.

I think it's a very good move for Vermes and KC's front office to reject any bids for a few years.

Exactly 2tone. First team soccer is in his immediate future, as opposed to being in Juve's youth system, which I'm not denying has its advantages but given his potential, SKC knows his value will rise exponentially in a few years. Rather than cashing in short term, selling him at whatever his future price might be is a much better strategy in terms of getting the best return on their investment.

Or he could end up being a Freddy Adu, and be worth next to nothing, and SKC will be kicking themselves for not cashing in on him early.

This was my initial thought process but I thought of two ways around this. Firstly, he cant transfer until he's 18 which I believe isnt until this August. So he'll be around through the world cup to cover for Besler. Secondly most young transfers include a percentage of future transfer money. South American clubs are famous for this. You'd think SKC would agree to something like 1 mill plus 15-20% of any transfers for the life of his contract (assuming juve would sign him to a 3-5 year contract). That kind of contract is pretty commonplace and I wonder if the percent for a future transfer is the hold up

True, but $1 million is a meager amount to wager in the world of professional sports. If this kid fulfills his promise the upside to holding him far outweigh the potential loss of $1 million.

1 million for Juventus is a LOT of money. Juve does not splash cash similar to Chelsea and City. When Juve offer 1 million for a youth player that speaks volumes.

Juve is a very cheap club and will let a target walk for far less than 1 million dollars. Marotta is very stingy.

That's true 1 million from Juve is a significant sum for a young player that has not proving anything yet at pro level.

Whew it might be hard for KC to hold on to him if more teams are starting to get in the mix. I just hope he and KC make the best decision. I would like to see him stay in KC for a few years because he could very well see first team soccer with KC this summer. And like I said KC isn't very deep at CB for this summer. Besler, Collin, Opara, and EPB are the CB's. Besler will be out for at least a month and if Collin or Opara or both get injured EPB will more than likely be called upon.

What Juve or Chelseas should do is a pre-contract because they can't really buy him until he is 18 due to Child laws, and allow him to stay in KC for a few years.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
