Isn't Barbir part of Man City's academy? For some reason they have him as a GUEST player.

Danny Barbir is only a guest player. He can't officially be a part of their academy because he doesn't have an EU passport. Just like Flores at Dortmund or Rubin with Utrecht.

Any American players officially tied to an English academy is because either they have and EU passport or an English passport.

Emmerson Hyndman qualified for an EU passport through his Grandpa Schellas who is Portuguese-Russian.

Marc Pelosi because he was born in Germany

Seb Lletget through his grandparents because of their Italian link.

Lynden Gooch because his Mother or Father is English.

etc.....

Yeah saw that too, I'm not sure. He defiantly has said he has choose man city. I guess they haven't officially signed him yet. The club hasn't never released anything on him yet. No EU passport.

Thought so, the usual case.

I though Barbir has an EU passport, cuz his dad is Romanian unless of course Romania is not part of the European Union. England with their strict EU work permits smh

Danny played pretty good from what I saw, can see why Man City want him. Sent good long balls, strong at the back, kept position well, & even scored.

Whats even more amazing is that he's a forward converted to a center back.

Hmm, good question. Romania is a apart of the EU. Maybe Manchester City aren't ready to pull the trigger on him yet.

Yeah, his play as a forward got him noticed then Richie put him as a center back at the copa in mexico. He has a bright future at CB.

Yeah he is Romanian and Cuban so he should be eligible for a Romanian EU passport. Hopefully Man City sign him after this tournament. Don't see why not...

Under European law, the UK cannot stop any EU citizen from moving freely within its borders for the purposes of work. And playing soccer counts as work/employment, etc.

I'm thinking that Barbir is a guest player because he can't officially join them until he turns 16, in about 2wks.

What was the Final Score ? Yup Barbir is going to be a good CB in the next couple years and he will have that versatility since he was a converted forward.
