To your first point, Dempsey has had that mentality but he's never been so consistently poor in his entire career. Maybe this isn't his decline, but he's playing like it is. I'd love more than anything to be wrong.

To your second, I think he has a lot to play for. This is just my opinion, but I think he believes he should be a starter for Brazil. If JK is a man of his word, there are still spots to be fought for and I think the withdrawn forward/CAM is the most important of those spots. Dempsey should be playing like he's fighting for his position. That this is the last WC he will ever play. He needs to be lights out. He needs to play for all the naysayers, me being one of them. That may be too passion based for Dempsey, but he used to play with heart and drive and I just don't see that anymore. He doesn't take anyone on, he doesn't use his strength, he goes down easy, and he rarely dribbles with his head up. I sure hope I'm wrong but if I'm JK I'm either having a serious pep talk with Dempsey or I'm looking at my other options.

I think people are over exaggerating a little to much with one game. He was the best player on the field for Fulham last weekend.

I am not saying he shouldn't be looking over his shoulder heading into the WC because I think Bedoya, Donovan, Aron, Diskerud, and possibly Fabian and Zusi all have the potential to play that withdrawn FWD role and play it well, especially Donovan(who I would prefer to see as the CAM/Withdrawn FWD anyways). Dempsey may well play himself onto the bench come the WC, but I don't think that is a big deal considering the talent we have to cover the CAM/Withdrawn FWD role.

I wouldn't mind seeing this at all against Ghana:

----------AJ---------
Fabian------Lando-----Bedoya

All have speed and are all very technical players. Sometimes Deuce's lack of speed in transition really slows down the USMNT's attack. And AJ is just more in form than Jozy.

I think a concern that may grow is who partners Bradley? It's been Jones, but that has never looked good as a CM partnership, and now Jones may not even see first team minutes. There is yet any suitors to sign Jones, and if he stays with Schalke the rest of the season he risks getting sent to the U-23 squad due to him stating he wants out at Schalke.

My first choice would be Diskerud to partner Bradley. Move Bradley to a DM position which will allow Diskerud to be a more attack minded CM.

To quote Alexi Lalas, form is a fallacy. In spite of his Sunderland difficulties, we have seen nothing to indicate Jozy can't step into the national team and be the productive player we know he is capable of being. I would rather see Jones benched in favor of both AJ and Jozy up top before seeing Jozy benched.

Yeah my concern wasn't as much for the team as it was for my general fan-dom (word?) for Dempsey. I want him to perform well. I always have. Watched almost every Fulham game he ever played. So its upsetting to see him play like this, even if we have talented players on the field. If Dempsey were benched, it wouldn't ruin my day, especially if he's playing like he has been. I almost think that's what he needs. He's walked into the Seattle, Fulham, and MNT first-team without being held to the same standard as other players as far as performance goes. I'd like to see what he does if he is.

As far as Bradley goes I've always like Mix or Cam there. Cam is a solid RB though, and I'd prefer him over Evans especially considering Lichaj is injured. It's a shame Jones is declining as well.

Dolo's pesky knee problems persist. Dolo has been training on his own because his knee problems aren't going away.

It's hard for me to see Dolo going to the WC with his continued knee problems.

Cameron and Chandler remain my front runners to be on that WC team for RB.

What's the news on Chandler's recent performances? I know he had a small spree of good games a while back, but he hasn't been in the USMNT picture for a while. Do you think he makes the plane?

The Bundesliga has been on winter break for a while but he's put in solid performances before the break. I think he has a good shot of making the roster for the Ukraine game if he keeps up the solid performances. But if he isn't on that roster, his chances are slim to none.

USA has to put the most technical players vs Ghana not just players because their athletic and fast players. They like when teams play that pace with them. I mean it will help but we have a better chance with more technical players. Good example Uruguay they don't have many strong physical fast players, and they beat Ghana.

I wonder if they move that Ukraine game to the US. Things aren't looking good in Kiev and all over Ukraine right now. On the brink of civil war.

If things continue to escalate it might be easier just find a different European opponent

A lot of this stems up from issues that are brought on by the olympics in Sochi. My guess is that by the time April comes along everything will be back to normal.

They should just find another team, it would make more sense, maybe Serbia?
