He played a good game he took four shots two shots on goal. One of those forced a good save from the keeper. He put in a nice cross which his striker somehow managed to mishit. For this being his first game in a while he played a very good game. Stoke City probably want shea to get match fit and they believe the championship will help more. One month loan deals are used to get match fit stoke city want to use him and he will probably get decent playing time for stoke if his loan is a success so far so good.

Shea has the potential to be an EPL starter he just had that injury set back and he hasnt been able to crack the team sheets. Pretty tough especially when you have other players on form to compete with. Personally think stoke want him but Barnley is only team that agreed for a month. Pretty sure Shea can perform at top level in Championship leading him to play in EPL again.

After watching the Stoke/Everton match today, I can safely say that even if Brek comes back after his loan, he will not start over Assaidi. But he could potentially be used on the right, or as the #1 off the bench when they need some attacking width.

Barnsley's coach was extremely pleased with Shea's first start. Sounds like Shea will definitely be starting for Barnsley form here on out.

Shea just needs to get match fit, and since this loan is only 28 days it would seem Hughes is just using this loan to get Shea back match fit and in form for the final three months for Stoke.

Either way if Barnsley extends the loan or Shea goes back to Stoke it seems he may be finally starting to get back on track after all of his injury problems the last year and half. And if t's the case then it will be a major boon for Klinsmann and the USMNT. Dude can provide instant offense off of the bench.

Yes, but if you noticed (and one of the NBCSN announcers pointed it out), Assaidi almost always cuts in on and gets the ball in with his right. If he comes back fighting fit and feeling good, I'd expect Hughes to play Walters as the withdrawn in place of Ireland and move Assaidi to the right.

I've talked trash about Walters before being shyte but he looked pretty good yesterday, he seems to do better the higher up the pitch his starting position is, but he's obviously not a viable option as a RW. Move Assaidi over and start Brek on the left, both have pace and will run at defenders.

not sure. Can you get cup tied even if you played only in the Capital one cup match?

Barnsley have a game in the Championship in 3 days so my guess he is being saved, or it might have been written in his loan to not be FA cup tied to Barnsley in case Stoke make a deep run.

No. I would assume that's only if they're playing their parent club. Barry played for us today against QPR.

If it's a short term loan, typically they don't want players being cup-tied unless they know the player will be loaned back out. Barry played because he's on a year long loan.

Good goal. Looks like he is enjoying his soccer again. I wouldn't be opposed to him extending the loan with Barnsley until the end of the year, especially if Hughes isn't going to use him for Stoke.

It will be interesting to see where he stands with Jürgen come that March friendly. My guess is that he will definitely be called in for that game.

I will also add that I really like him at RW instead of LW. He is the type of player that likes to cut in and shoot. I would really like to see Jürgen play him at RW.

Theres the talent that Shea has. What kind of match was this Championship match? Anyways he need to keep gaining momentum. Hope he stays longer unless Hughes has plans for in at least as a sub in Premier League.
