ESPN's Marc Stein, who is actually a basketball analyst but an avid soccer fan, is reporting Shea is very close to a loan move to Barnsley. Barnsley is dead last in the Championship table so I would imagine Shea is going to get playing time there. I would have to say its a good move because even though its a crappy team its better than not playing obviously. If you want check his twitter for the report.

Great news. I hope it happens.

Can he take Maurice Edu with him?

Good for brek he needs playing time badly if he wants to make it to the world cup. The championship is a good league and the team is in last place so he will be trying to lead the team out of relegation. Maurice Edu is rumored to be drawing intrest in turkey from Bursapor more specifically. Not sure if it will be a loan or permanent transfer.

Don't assume he will be getting significant PT yet (I will define "significant" as 45 mins or more per game).

Well maybe in 2018 shea. Klissman will not call a player from Barnsley to the wc. Heck I think 0 players from the championship will go to the wc. Considering we have many players there.

Klinsmann likes Shea a lot. And Shea can bring something to the USMNT at the WC as a sub.

I wouldn't count Shea out of the WC just because he is playing in the Championship.

Regardless it's good for Shea even if he doesn't go to the WC.

To be fair Barnsley is only 5 points away from getting out of the relegation spot. As long as Shea comes in and provides much needed offense he could very well help them stay in the Championship. Don't be surprised to see Barnsley use him in various different attacking positions both winger positions and at striker.

If the deal goes through it looks like Shea will immediately go into Barnsleys 18 for their game tomorrow.

Shea reminds me of Robbie rogers good in mls before he went to england and his career just went down the road from there. Well not the being gay part soccer wise. And now rogers is done, i don't think he will ever play for the mnt. Even though klissman likes him a lot i don't think he will waste a roster spot on him.

I think Shea has a pretty good chance to make the WC squad simply due to the fact that he has shown the ability to change a game as a sub. And Klinsy has given him many chances to do that even when not getting minutes for his club.

How many MNT fringe players can say that?

The only player that is maybe in discussion for the WC in the championship is Lijah. Other than that no one really. Even then in 2014 once Chandler, Cherundolo come back to the mnt pic Lijah hopes are gone, the fullbacks spots will be full. And as i do see Shea being a full time starter for barnsley i don't see him making a real impact for them therefore not attracting much attention to klissman.

Hope move goes through, I have no doubt he would be on the game day roster right away. As far as making WC roster goes..he is a favorite of klinsys and has proven to be an impact sub. I have a feeling we will see him on the roster, wouldnt mind that at all. Barsnely are headed for relegation shea could be just what they need.

Lichsj is a versatile player and can be very valuable to the team, he has a good chance of making the squad. Chandler is done..steve is a hopful..

It's a done deal but the loan is only for 28 days. I wish it was for the rest of the season.
