not really, at this point. he is getting his first few starts in a big-boy league and is not an option for brazil. he should be 100% focused on club right now. absolutely no reason to consider him till next cycle

I agree. But bring him into the fold for the Ukraine match. He was starting before that leg injury.

If JK can bring Luis Gil, Deandre Yedlin, Oniel, Brooks, and Cody Cropper into the fold then why not Packwood? Packwood was starting before his horrific injury. Packwood might be another young american center back coming up through the ranks.

8 total starts in LC - 3 this season.

if he gets called, fine, but there really should not be much of an expectation

suppose it just depends on if and how many MLS CBs are called in

because this is not camp cupcake - this is a 3 day camp and the LAST fifa fixture date before assembling team in may

most likely gonzo and besler will join. if not maybe packwood gets an invite

either way their is zero chance that he will get on field v ukraine

Uh Cropper and Brooks got called in for Bosnia I don't see how Packwood can't be called up. If packwood continues to play full 90 and keeping clean sheets he'll earn a call up.

Goochs chances of world cup grow smaller and smaller. If I am klinsmann gonzo, Besler, Brooks, and Goodson come as my centerbacks. Gooch better hope for injuries because there is no way he jumps any of these players. Packwood should be called up he probably wont be called up for the world cup but with gooch out the spot opens up for him to ukraine. Lichaj will probably be called up to ukraine with chandler out.

Only European based players are being called up for Ukraine friendly Klinsmann has gone on record of this. So pakckwood will probably be called up due to onyewu injury.

I heard that as well, although Klinsmann has been known to change his mind.

I think that's the idea to call up mostly European players, but if Klinsmann has some MLS guys pegged as starters, you would think he'd call them in.

Yes Klinsmann stated that the March friendly will be mostly European players, but my guess he takes a couple Liga MX/MLS players as well.

A couple of quotes from Klinsmann are up at USsoccer.com.

ussoccer.com : The next opportunity for the National Team will be March 5 away to Ukraine. The match will be one of the last chances to convene the squad before the World Cup. How will you approach putting together the roster for that game?
JK : "We want to discuss that over the next couple of weeks. We want to see a couple of guys who we don't have a clear picture of right now. So we might see some people coming back into the roster. Obviously, it's challenging bringing a lot of players over from the U.S. or from Mexico for a game that only has three days of preparation. It's more an opportunity to call in more European-based players because they are already in Europe and they can quickly show us where they are at. We have a very good picture of the players we worked with in the January camp for four weeks. We know where they're at, what their qualities are and what they bring to the table, so the Ukraine match might be an opportunity to see a couple more European -based players.

In response to a question about what he liked from the South Korea Match

There was a lot of movement off the ball, so we found our people in midfield and even up front with Wondo and Landon. Many things reflected the work on the training field that we did over the last four weeks. We want to see that being translated to the next opportunity in March against Ukraine with other players coming into the group.

I don't know how the work they did in January will be translated to March if he's taking different players, but OK Juergen.
