Who will be the starting strikers or striker for the 2018 WC?

Here is a list that will definitely change in the coming years, but right now this is as good as any list of players to choose from:

1. Johannsson
2. Altidore
3. Agudelo
4. Boyd
5. Bobby Wood
6. McInerney
7. Villarreal
8. Salgado
9. Kevin Hoyos
10. Conor Doyle
11. Will Bruin
12. Ben Spencer
13. Andrija Novakovich
14. Zardes
15. Haji Wright
16. Alonso Hernandez

Like the list but i want to talk about agudelo for a min. why is ever one so high on this guy? To me hes adu all the potential in the world with no work ethic or ability to do what he needs to do to make it happen. I dont think he is as good as everyone thinks he is.

And of course, that obviously means he has a bad work ethic.

Provide some real soccer-related evidence of this please...

Yet to have a single MLS season where he has done "very well." Yet he believes he should be a DP. That's arrogance, and more importantly it is childish stupidity.

Navi and Soccerboy, please show me evidence of what you're talking about. I did some research of my own because I refuse to make hollow statements. I couldn't find anything saying that he has a lack of focus or that he demands a DP contract. Even if that is true, what does any of that have to do with his work ethic and his abilities?

Navi, you just seem to have an issue with his personal life, which is always an odd thing to me. We don't know these players nor should we really care what they do off the field away from soccer.

So it's reasonable for a 21 year old player to believe he should be anointed a designated player when he has never had a single "very good" season (by most accounts)? If true, which is hard to find documentation of, it indicates he thinks he deserves things before he has earned them through hardwork and results.

I don't care what he thinks he deserves, as long as he shows up come gameday. Even still, when he has stated he wants a DP contract. Everything I read is that he just wants to go to Europe.

What do you consider "very good?" I read all those articles and it sounds like he had a very good season. I get he didn't standout individually, but the Revs were a better team with him than without him. Same can be said for Chivas.

im not arguing his ablilties at all im saying red bulls got rid of him as did chivas. why did those teams give up on a guy with all that abliltiy for really nothing in return. Also he has say before he wants to be a dp or go to europe. You seem to have knowledge of the game hes a good player but please tell me you think that he has no problems with focus just watch him play. To me hes a young alitore when it comes to just dissapperaing in games.

By the way, all those articles I posted support why Agudelo is a top striker for the US, not only for the future, but some, including myself, believe he is a top striker for the US right now.

Read the articles.

RBNY, led by Backe at the time, refused to give young players a chance. Chivas got rid of him because of future money issues.

As far as him disappearing in games, I never really got that sense from him. But there's 22 players on a field and one ball. Players will "disappear" at times.

i have read them before i follow ther game the same as you if not more. I live in germany where soccer is everything. i believe agudelo has potential yes but anyone that thinks he is our best striker right now is crazy. In the future maybe right now no.
