Crazy that Chelsea has 21 year oldCourtois just doing his thing at Atletico fighting for a La Liga title and in the UCL semis. But they have Cech who's still really really good.

Not crazy, good scouting and good business. They will have to make a decision this year but I suspect they will use Courtois to lower the cost of Diego Costa in the summer.

Will Atletico sell Diego? that's the question. Does Diego want to be sold?

But Chelsea could be scary good next season with Diego Costa.

Chelsea fan here.

Seems like we are planning on extending Courtois until 2019 and then sending him out on loan one last time to Atletico. Two rumors the past 24 hours have come up as well:

1) He wants the fee to play against them if they are drawn together waived as part of his new deal.
2) The fee being waived (6-8 million) could be used as part of the fee for Diego Costa in the summer.

I personally love Cech, but if Courtois leaves if he doesn't get the Chelsea #1 job this summer it's a mistake. He's already a top 3 goalie in the world at only 21. Goalies like him don't come around often. As for Costa, I like him but don't want to pay an outrageous fee with Lukaku sitting in the wings and have another Torres situation on our hands.

If it were me, there would be no way I wouldn't give Lukaku a season to make that #1 spot his. I wouldn't give up Courtois to get Costa either. There are far more world class strikers than there are keepers. Though I don't think Costa would turn out into another Torres situation....he was coming off a serious injury so it was always a risk spending that kind of money.

I agree Lukaku needs a shot. He's proven himself with much worse (WBA) and slightly worse (Everton) players giving him service. Imagine his deadliness in front of goal with Hazard, Oscar, Willian, etc giving him service.

Wow.

Though I would love to see Lukaku sold and it became another Sturridge situation.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. Torres had worse players giving him service before he went to Chelsea. I will say, though, that even though he has not scored much, Torres has continued to work for the team when he has been on the pitch.

I'm all for Lukaku getting his shot, but he has to understand with the number of matches the club will play and the varying types of teams, he will not always be selected and we (another Blues supporter here) will still be in the market for another top striker, whether it be Costa or Balotelli.

Don't know about that. He might have overall better individual players attacking wise at Chelsea....but service, I would lean heavy towards what he played with at Liverpool, Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Maxi Rodriquez and Riera in their prime

I think he's talking about when he was at Chelsea. I would say who he played with wasn't far below. Lampard, Mata, and a few others. Maybe not quite the same level, but he wasn't playing with scrubs. His contributions are okay but your job as a striker is to score. If you don't score, you don't play - see Jozy.

He said Torres had worse players giving him service BEFORE going to Chelsea. Not saying he is playing with scrubs, just pointing out that it wasn't the case.

Oh, read that wrong. Yeah Liverpool had some top notch quality then.

Yes, I was having a playful dig at Liverpool. Technically Liverpool only finished above Chelsea once during Torres time at Anfield. And given that they have not finished above them since, it can be argued that Chelsea is the better team.

I will concede though that drop off in quality was/is a very slight drop.

...and I was still having a dig in the above reply. Different teams entirely. Lukaku is better suited for the way Chelsea plays than Torres, who while he tried, was a square peg in a round hole.

We know FIFA is rigged but I really hate these draws. We know FIFA is helping Chelsea since they know curtuois can't play. Guess my Final prediction won't be a reality of Bayer.Vs Real. FIFA should of kept them apart.
Anyways both matches will be great.
