Yep first ever U-21 team to be convened in April. Ocegueda has been called up. This is basically to start the process for the 2016 U-23/Olympic team.

Should be interesting to see who from MLS, Mexico, and Europe may get called up for this.

Players from our 2013 u-20 cycle may return. Players like, Cropper, Miller, Acosta(can still play for the u-20's), Oniel, Zimmerman, Brooks, Yedlin, Gil, Guido, S.Rodriguez, Trapp, Pelosi, Packwood, Mario Rodriguez, Villereal, McBean, Serna, Okoli, Jordan Allen, and a few others. This team is going to be stacked. I'm just glad they're preparing a lot earlier than our previous cycle.

Plus the U20 camp ends right before the U21 camp. We could see some move to that one as well.

This team was needed.

Issue is the U-21's need meaningful games, otherwise it's meaningless...

I'm pretty sure they'll schedule friendlies with other teams, instead of just holding domestic camps all the time. This team is not meaningless, it's to bridge the gap between our u-20 and u-23 team.

Well since they don't play in the world cup or the olympics there really is no official competitions, unless Concacaf creates a gold cup for the under 21's. Other than that the best this team can do is playing official friendlies against teams from Europe/Asia/and south America.

Right now the only competition for a US U-21 team in CONCACAF would be the Pan American games.

Here's hoping they try to set up camps during FIFA dates so the euro guys can participate. That way it can be a true bridge. Imagine if this cycle guys like lletget ariybi and packwood could have gotten some international camps and games.

Lletget was a part of the 2012 Olympic qualifying cycle.

Both Aribiyi and Packwood are eligible for this upcoming U-21 team and U-23 Olympic team.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. I wonder why we didn't send in our team to compete in 2011, the tournament would've prepared our guys with meaningful games. I surely hope that we send our boys to the 2015 one.

Right. But Lletget never got to participate because its never on official dates. Same reason Brooks kept getting squeezed out. Its my one main gripe is with this fantastic push to get youth players into european academies and teams at young ages we squeeze them out of the youth national team as well since we make qualifying and the like on non-Fifa dates. I wish USSF and CONCACAF could work on it and make sure that every team can have its best players available to them

Actually Lletget participated in two Camps last cycle, and he was deemed not good enough by Porter to be called up for the qualifying tournament. I haven't seen enough of Lletget to make any decisions if he was good enough for the qualifying team, but Porter made that decision.

Lletget needs to make a decision soon. He will be 23 next year, and needs to start getting first team minutes somewhere.

Whew that attacking corps is getting deeper and deeper for Klinsmann for the 2018 WC cycle.

There are rumors that Shawn Parker is seriously considering switching to the USMNT now. Source: USAprospects
