I think its easy to see a correlation. Which countries have the most players in order:

Spain, Germany, Italy, brazil. Those are 4 of the top 5 favorites (with Argentina in some cases) no matter what website, sportsbook, etc you use. What teams are given slim to no chance to make it out of the group stage? Iran, Algeria, CR, Australia. They bring up the bottom with other nations. Any time you make a list using stats there are outliers (Bosnia with only 4, England with 20) but for the most part its a good picture of the strength of the teams. One thing to be said, as stated earlier is this world cup field is the strongest by far. Last World Cup you had North Korea, New Zealand, & South Africa as poor teams that couldnt compete. This time around if you handpicked teams from each region its almost exactly what youd get give or take personal preference here or there. But its clearly CONCACAF, AFC, & CAF's strongest fields ever and no big Euro team got eliminated

Very true. Which is why I've said there's a real possibility of there being multiple groups of death. As disappointing as it may be that the US may be put in an extremely tough group, I would rather have that than a fluff group. I want to truly see how far this new team under JK has progressed. Not to mention that having all of the best teams from around the world is the best thing for the tournament as well. Love to see all of the best competing.
