Some teams are equally as bad in Bundesliga and La Liga

No way man, Nurnberg and Real Betis are powerhouses!

Ahhh parity. Yes, the EPL does have parity. I think we can all agree on that.

We all do know what parity means, right? The state or condition of being equal.

Meaning, that the EPL has more teams that are closer in quality to one another, than say the Bundesliga and La Liga (are we all in agreement these are the top 3 leagues?). (I'm not even going to bother with La Liga, because its disparity is greater than both)

According to Champions League results, I'd say the EPL has a bit of an advantage so far, no? United(8th in EPL) just throttled Leverkusen(2nd in BDL) home and away. Chelsea(3rd) did the same to Schalke(6th). Arsenal(1st) split with Dortmund(3rd) and City(2nd) split with Bayern(1st).

So since the EPL has more parity, I'd say the bottom half of the table is closer in quality to the top of the table, rather than vice versa. Therefore, making it an overall better league.

Overexposed and overrated are not the same thing.

I got some pretty negative comments when I said something similar awhile back. I said that in aside from the top few team in La Liga the rest were fairly mediocre. It doesn't really matter which league is the best. I think it's good if we have Americans playing in any of them.

You do realize the NFL cannot be compared to any other league besides the CFL right lol.. You cannot use an America's ONLY sport and try to use it as an defense. The EPL is overrated, it is only popular in the US because of the of the coverage it receives and the parity which makes it more fun to watch. What do you always hear when analyst talk about the EPL? The physicality of the the league. Not the technial skills like the Bundesliga, or La Liga, though La Liga bores me. EPL is fun to watch but in no way is it the best league in the world. How is it the best league in the world when only Man City has a chance to get through to the next round of the CL lol? I don't even give United a chance vs Olympiacos lol....

That's the point I was trying to make, the EPL is so good the best comparison would be the NFL (and the Bundesliga is the CFL)...well maybe not, I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea.

I CANNOT BELIEVE what I am reading from some of you people...how can you seriously argue another league is better than the EPL????

No way it's Serie A, Italian teams never do anything in the Champions League.

La Liga is a JOKE. There are ZERO good teams in La Liga besides Barcelona and Real Madrid. On a good day, any MLS team could beat any La Liga team besides those two.

And the Bundesliga???? All it has is Bayern and Dortmund (recently)...name one other German team that has been any good at all over the past five to ten years.

The EPL probably five to ten teams that could play in the Champions League. It has PARITY because it has tons of good teams. And I would love to see Barcelona play against teams like Stoke. They'd just get pushed around.

Adu has had some games where he played great. I remember the game you're talking about and Adu was the best player for the US that day. The problem with Adu is that he then has several games where his play is poor. So let's pretend that we take him to the World Cup as a starter and he has one brilliant game, which means he plays poorly the next two. We need players who consistently play at a high level, and are capable of producing brilliant moments. Adu does not play at a consistently high level, but he is capable of producing the most brilliant moments when he is on. It's just not enough.

Then you would at least bring him on as a sub right? If he sometimes plays great, than why not bring him on as a sub when we are losing? Would you rather play Diskerud, Davis, or Gomez, or would you rather play someone who can 'produce brilliant moments?' You have to take that chance. That's what being a soccer coach is about. Too bad Klinsmann didn't get the memo.

I've been.away for a few days been ill, but wow ive read tjsoccer's post and he/she is a little to extreme FOR ME and that's saying something LMAO.i put it out there that I support Adu but I try to give quality positions even if the opposition disrespects my views which i do not mind...ill say that i agree that Adu needs PT to get to camp..but can u agree that Brek Shea will be at the camp? And if so how do we explain that when we say one person needs PT while another doesn't dress for Stoke?

But yes TJSOCCER is expressing opinions that not even I.can grasp lol...his lineups of.leaving demps and LD out means imo that he's.just joking with us...

Whether or not Landon and Clint play is a different argument (I know most people will disagree with me on this one, but I think we should use Gatt or EJ). But I was talking about ADU on the LEFT MID. You know that's right, don't you? That's what a good coach would do. Too bad we don't have one.

Only joking guys. But in all seriousness, we need a BIG MONEY COACH who could make something like that happen. Pick a lineup like that. And my lineup is the type of lineup a coach that wants to play JOGA BONITA would choose. Some IVERSON (maybe Adu) to play along with that JORDAN. We can do this people, we can BUILD A TEAM. Just do something different than Klinsmann is doing. We know that he gets fired in 2014 (no way he is getting us out of this group) so why not just do it NOW so we have a good chance to make a run in the WORLD CUP.

anyway xavi is so overrated. all he does is pass the ball sideways and slow down the game.

This one is just too bad to go without comment. This was literally the dumbest thing I have ever seen anyone write on the forum, and that is saying something.

We understand that you are new to soccer, tj, but just so you know, Xavi (along with Iniesta) is the best midfielder in the game. You can't go on here spouting opinions like that because no one will take you seriously. You clearly don't have a good understanding of the game so think before you post and post infrequently.

We do have to remember that there are a lot of very new fans. In fact, most of them are new. Think about how few people cared about soccer ten years ago. How few fans we had. Because the sport's relative popularity is so new, a great bulk of the fanbase has only been watching soccer for a couple of years. And millions of viewers who have seen little to no soccer before will be tuning in live for this World Cup. A lot more people will be in the public discourse very soon, and they'll be inexperienced and have guys like this guy.

This is another reason why I'm glad Klinsmann got the extension. If he didn't, if/when we crash and burn out of the group stage (it's the group of death and our team is not that good right now) than people like tj would be calling for his head.

Adu as a left mid is a bad idea homie...if your going to support him u gotta make sense of it...lol god damn your making the opposition who hate adu have reason to even more so. Adu is a #10 or 2nd striker...JK wants mids who can track back on Defense...which is not his best quality....your an amateur bro....

This comment isn't incredibly on topic, but your post made me think about something I saw yesterday. On one of the afternoon shows on ESPN2, two guys were reviewing some sports clips from the weekend including an incident in which a soccer player had to actually pick up the extra ball on the field and throw it at the one being played by the opposing striker to get the ref's attention. Both of the guys analyzing the clip agreed on some smart-ass comment like "this game would be SO much better with two balls on the field, I don't think anyone in the world would disagree!"... uh... here's one person. I think the incredible thing about that moment for me was that I haven't seen anyone on ESPN's networks actively bash or display quite so much ignorance about the sport in a while. A short time ago, soccer bashing on ESPN wouldn't have seemed at all out of the ordinary. Progress!
