Williams is back healthy and played well this past weekend for Reading.

So what does this mean for the USMNT heading into 2014?

Klinsmann has always liked Williams' game, and has kept in touch with him while he has been injured.

With the Jones and Bradley partnership still sputtering and not likely to get better; Williams may be the best solution for Bradley as a partner.

Williams is very much a sit in front of the defenders DM. His defense is pretty stout and he is capable of doing the dirty work and covering the ground defensively in order to free up MB90 to be that box to box general for the USMNT.

I think clearly Williams return to the USMNT will push Beckerman out.

Is he ahead of Kljestan and or Diskerud? I think Diskerud has almost cemented his place as an attacking CM sub, and Kljestan has never been a player that Klinsmann has fully trusted at CM.

I think Klinsmann may take 5 Cm's to the WC and the last three spots will be a fight between Diskerud, Williams, Kljestan, and possibly Holden. Obviously I think Jones and Bradley are locks to make the WC team with Bradley as the only lock as a starting CM

Hold on to your butts because WC spots are going to be a dog fight for the next 5 months.

He has potential, but I feel like Williams has only played one decent game for the nats. I wouldn't think JK favors him more than he favors Beckerman. I have seen Danny Williams look very nervous and shakey in some games. I can only imagine him against WC teams.

I agree, but he does free up Bradley to do what he does best.

have no clue what is up with edu, but a move in january and regular PT would put him in the same boat

also, seems to have gone largely unnoticed that morales has picked up a full time gig for ingolstadt - after a home loss in october, morales was put in starting line-up and team has run off 3 wins and a draw

as for MLS rico clark with universal recognition as being in fine form (before injury kept him out on saturday) and his WC and bundesliga experience would allow him an easy transition back into squad even though he has been out in cold since his gaffe in s. africa

anyway, plenty of competition for beckerman, which is a good thing

Rico Clark really? Besides one commentator in an MLS playoff saying that his performance brings him to "the picture" It just doesnt. Clark was done after 2010 when he cost us an early goal with Ghana and Bob even subbed him off. Its clear in JK mind that Edu, Williams, and Beckerman are all above Clark.

Clark? Edu? Wth these guys have shown they are not quality players! How could you guys even bring them up? When's the last they actually played for the US? Let's just consider them out of the WC squad.

As for Williams talented yes, but he still isn't ready for WC. Just like Bekerman he does not belong... The game is too damn fast for them two. When you have all these quality CM on the field you have to play your A game each time. Them two are not ready.

The obly DM I see actually going against them are Jones, Bradley, and Cameron. I think JK sees this that is why he only plays JJ and MB together.

We just don't have enough CM to compete!

most likely beckerman is on the plane at this point. if its not beckerman it will probably be another DM:
- williams
- edu
- clark
- morales

jones is in a death spiral, currently ranked the worst player in bundesliga. schalke will no doubt bring someone in to replace him in january.

cameron looks headed towards an RB role.

we will need another DM on the roster and at least one of the above will surely be in good form in the spring and be a good option for brazil. deal with it

What?! no, I tend to disagree with you at this point. Edu is MIA and has not played for about a year, or seems like it. Clark now that is just nonsense! Should even be considered! lets just drop him from this conversation!

Im sorry 2tone but again I do disagree with you, you can not assure one of those guys will have a good season. Edu still has not found a club, Clark is nowhere near the US picture.

Deal with it? When was the last time you saw these guys playing for us? huh? exactly man, it's been a long ass time. Look homie you need to relax or "deal with it," in the fact that JK does not see anything with these guys. Don't like the truth than I suggest you go elsewhere with your assumptions.

Not trying to be a dick but you need to correct your attitude before responding on someone else comments.

Why was this directed @2Tone? An I missing something or did he never even mention Edu or Clark in his 2 posts?

Is everyone forgetting that both Williams and edu are just coming back from injury. Edu im sure wont get any playing time at stoke, but he had a good second half of the year in turkey and i wouldn't be surprised if he gets loaned out there again. Edu got called up for may qualifiers but withdrew due to injury and Danny Williams got called up to the june ones after coming back from injury but was left off due to fitness. way to early to be writing both of these guys off and i agree with 2tone that one of them will push beckerman back out of the 23.
