So I tried the revised WC simulator. In which they have Portugal, Greece, Ukraine, and Croatia as the European playoff winners, and after a few draws this is the simulation that came out the easiest for USA.

Group E:

Switzerland
USA
Burkina Faso
Greece

Yeah I would like the USMNT's chances in that group.

The worst one I simulated:

Brazil
USA
Ghana
Portugal

Don't feel like doing the math. Anyone know our chances of getting a passable group?

Depends who you think we can beat and how they set the pots up. I doubt we will get an Asian team so they, IMO, would be the easiest opponents for us. From the remaining federations, the teams we have a realistic chance of beating would be:

Europe: Bosnia, England, Greece
Africa: Cameroon, Burkino Faso (but we should be competitive with these countries)
South America: Ecuador

We can always pull an upset or two, but there are not many teams we would be considered favorites over. We will struggle to beat any of the top seeds, but I think it in our best interest if we were drawn with a CONMEBOL team as we have had a little bit of success against them as opposed to the Euro powers. This also means we only get one Euro team.

You don't need to do math, it doesn't look good!

I keep getting either Argentina or the Netherlands in the group with USA. I'd say it put us in "the group of death" 7/10 times. And I would also say 8/10 times Mexico was in an easier group. Disturbing.

Does anyone know what time (ET) the draw is happening on December 6th? I'm flying that day and I'm really hoping I don't have to find out the draw when I land.

On paper, the worst case scenario for the US is this group: (world ranking)
Spain (1)
USA (13)
Chile (12)
Netherlands or Italy (8)

Best case scenario:
Switzerland (7)
USA (13)
Cameroon (59)
Ukraine (20)

I like the USMNt's chances of getting out of that group.

The US has shown previously that they can compete with Russia, and Croatia isn't as good as some people believe.

Brazil, Usa, Burkina Fasco, Greece

My first simulation haha. That is a dream group for me. I'm Greek and I know that the USMNT would have the upper hand.

I ended up with his on my first two attempts..

Brazil, USA, Ivory Coast, Italy (ouch)

Switzerland, USA, Burkina Faso, Ukraine (id take that in a heart beat!)

Switzerland (or Uruguay), USA, Ecuador, England (id also take it)

Best case scenario (assuming the Asian group is in our pot)

Switzerland, Cameroon, Ukraine, USA

In all honesty..id rather play Uruguay or Columbia from pot 1 than a Euro team. The US seems to play a much better game against the South American teams. I think Columbia will be the easiest team to beat in the top 8. They are gonna fold like a deck of cards under the pressure at the World Cup.

Colombia and uruguay are better than at least half of euro teams if not most.
