Kinda interesting that Kljestan played as #10 in match (play maker) even though he plays as #8 in club while Mix played #8 in match when he plays #10 play makerin club. Unless JK doesnt know what he is doing or both Kljestan and Mix are competing for one spot in mid. JK I guess wants to see who is a more complete player.
He maybe wants to see Kljestan ability to create vs Mix ability to defend.
Austria will def be a tougher game and JK should start in
4-2-3-1
Mix as playmaker
and Bradley and Kljestan as pairing
4-4-2
With Altidore and AJ

Rain: Gonzo was poor, I don't understand how you can say he was rock solid.

? poor? an example? he was very, very quiet... generally a good thing for a defender

I slept through the game...it was at noon...embarrassing. How'd we do? I hear it was pretty bad (offensively) until the subs came on. Surprised Kljestan got the start over Mix...I think Kljestan might be better as a #8 but I think Mix would be better as a #10.

I think there is one rating we can all agree on. Coach Rating: 3, terrible initial selections, good subs (Wondo really?)

Jones has been average for a while now. I wasn't as impressed with Kljestan as Rain was....but that's not surprising. I would like to see a Bradley/Kljestan pairing with Mix sitting ahead with Aron up top, Shea and Bedoya wide. Another option would be moving Aron out to the right and Boyd up top.

So no Jozy for you in your line up?

No, we know what Jozy can do. These are the games to see what the players outside the 11 can do.

I hated the starting line-up from the minute I saw it.

1. EJ is not a winger, he looks subpar every time he plays out wide. He does better as a forward but even then I still like EJ, Deuce and Donovan all better alongside Jozy.

2. Bedoya underwhelmed today, today he needed to make more of a case. Zusi still clearly the best option wide right with Donovan.

3. FJ stock improved and he wasn't with the team. He is by far the best left sided mid/winger we have. So crucial to our attack.

4. Cameron>Jones in the middle of the park. He is a great passer and does well defensively. As a CB he would caught 2-3 times badly today.

5. Kljestian is eh...not enough pace but is better playing as a CM over a CAM like he did today.

6. Johannsson, Shea and Disk changed the game, especially the first 2. Johannsson is now the first guy off the bench or arguably a starter in this team even with everyone healthy. I like Jozy and Donovan(who is best when he plays up top with space.) but after that AJ is ahead of Decue(who is not in form atm) and EJ.

7. Howard was good again.

and can we please ALWAYS play with 2 forwards.

Good points, especially number 4. Cameron as a CM was the main take away from the game for me. He had two deep runs as a CB. His passing is crisp and his defensive instincts mean he can stay back while Bradley gets forward. He's had mixed results as a CM but out of all of Klinsmann's madness of playing players out of position Cameron at CM is one of the moves with the most potential in my opinion.

I feel sorry for Brad Evans, he simply isn't a RB. He doesn't have the pace to keep up with speedy attackers and was burned on several occasions today. When he gets burned he busts his ass to redeem himself. Sometimes he makes a play, often he fails. It isn't for a lack of heart or effort, he's just not a RB. If he's our RB in the World Cup and he gets burned to give up a goal it's not on Evans, it's on Klinsmann.

Lichaj wasn't really tested during his time. He didn't do anything wrong but it's hard to properly evaluate him based on that performance. I hope he gets more playing time against Austria.

I liked the Kljestan experiment from Klinsmann. Kljestan didn't do a great deal and it was another player out of position but I like that Klinsmann was willing to take a gamble to see how it worked out. That's the point of these friendlies.

I think Brek Shea is going to be one of the surprise inclusions on the World Cup roster irrespective of his playing time at Stoke. He's a guy who can completely change the game with his pace and Klinsmann loves him. As long as he's healthy I think he makes it to Brazil.

Finally, I cannot believe that ESPN followed BeIn's lead with their stupid in game highlights. These networks are clearly run by old men. If I wanted to see what was happening in the European games I could have easily fired up WatchESPN and watched any of them live. Or maybe I wanted to watch them on replay at which point they would have completely ruined it? These old execs are still living in the 90s. It must be frustrating to be a young person working for these networks.

I was hoping AJ would have started as drop forward or ACM. When I saw the starting line up on match tracker I knew we would have absolutely nothing going on in the attacking third. That group of attacking players just can't find each other...zero combo play...no understanding of what the other player is trying to do...completely disconnected.

We're so thin in quality players that can truly make a difference. In the first half we only had MB.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, we all see it, AJ is clearly a difference maker and needs to be starting...especially in the absence of LD I practically don't care where he slots in as an attacker, just get him on the field at the start.

JK needs to turn the heat up on Jones, Beas, Evans and EJ...at what point is enough enough.
