Just thought Id mention that Honduras, who knocked our U17 team out of qualifying and prevented us from making the world cup made it to the quaterfinals. They will be taking on Sweden so have a good chance to make the semis. Mexico is also in the QF but face Brazil so they are probably done. Either way 2 QF spots for CONCACAF is pretty good at a youth tourney. And Honduras in a semi final would be great too

Too bad Richie Williams is a pretty poor coach.

But yeah that Honduras U-17 team is pretty good.

Mexico just toom out Brazil.. Looks like they might go to another final and possibly win it. Honduras lost 2/1 vs Sweden. Amazing how good Mexico is in these youth tournaments. USA could take pointers from them and learn.

Mexico is always good at the youth level, but that rarely turns into senior success.

Most U-17 players for any country rarely make it to their respective senior sides.

I think the priority at youth level should never be focused on winning a tournament.

But, I think the US should always be in a youth WC regardless. Here's to hoping this next crop of US U-17's make the WC.

But that's cool Mexico is showing well.

Honduras had a good tournament as well.

Id rather win 1 sub 17 world cup than 50 gold cups. Is a FIFA tournament. Which we have 0 and Mexico has a couple already.

Who cares about winning youth WC's. I for one really don't care. If it happens then cool, but winning a youth WC means absolutely squat.

Well historically they are better than USA and have accomplished much more in soccer. So in a sense yes.

What have they accomplished more than the US at the senior level? The furthest both have gone in a WC is the quarterfinals.

Senior level is what matters. Youth tournaments are just that youth tournaments.

Nigeria hasn't made it to a confederations cup final. The US has. So in all seriousness the US has accomplished more than Nigeria.

How many CAF championships does Nigeria have? They have 3

How many CONCACAF Gold Cups does the US have? 5

I would say the USMNT is a more successful team at the senior level.

They also have a gold at the olympics. 96. And is much tougher to win an African cup than a gold cup. And went to the 2008 final as well. You could ask any expert in the world and all will say they have accomplished more in soccer.

It's nice to see that. But honestly they mean next to nothing.

Remember that golden age of Mexican players from last year? Not much from them I see.

US needs to be in these tournaments though to have these experiences for their young careers.

Is it much tougher? Really none of us know if it's harder. Yes they have won a gold medal. But tell you the truth the footballing community really doesn't care about the Olympics. Ask any nation and they will tell you that they could care less about Olympic soccer.

The gold cup is tough but we know either USA or Mexico is going to win it. Caf has more competition and theres never a clear favorite. All im saying a sub 17 wc is much much bigger than a gold cup. And any nation would rather win a FIFA tournament and an olympic gold. Also if Mexico qualifies to the world cup I have a feeling they will do better than us.

No, I don't agree with the notion that a youth WC is somehow a bigger accomplishment than winning a Gold Cup at the senior level.

USMNT will be just fine in this WC. Why worry about what Mexico will or won't do in the WC?

No use worrying about something you can't control.
