hamsamwich, I like Holmes, I think he should get a shot with the national team and can be a useful player for us. I do think it is relevant to note that no Premier League team has deemed him of that caliber though.

Who do you think has a higher chance of playing in the EPL during the upcoming qualifying cycle Mix or Holmes?

English teams don't rate American players. It's a sad but true fact. I bet Holmes could get on a Bundesliga team no problem. I have watched Holmes a few times and thought he was solid. He had the, "it" factor a lot more than Mix. I would have no issue bringing them both into the next camp.

American players struggle to get work permits in England. Steffen our number one keeper potentially qualified later this year.

Work permits aside, what MLS players from the last USMNT camp do you believe can start on a Championship team right now?

I personally think none.

For my money Long, Trapp, Roldan and Arriola would all have a good chance to start in the championship. Just for defending (not passing or overall player et al... in the championship that may be the most important skill) I think Aaron Long is our best most aggressive man to man defender I don't care if he plays in MLS. Trapp we already know was the subject of multiple bids from a championship club so I don't need to go there. Roldan just can play and move all over the field I think he'd be a good fit for the all action league. And Arriola and that would be the third pro league in which he'd be good enough.

The keepers, Bradley, Lovitz, Lima, Morris and Zardes would all be just about there as well but as bench players in my opinion.

Long has struggled against CCL competition and we've never seen him against better competition than that.

Just cuz Trapp had a bid, doesn't mean he would start. The low bid showed us how much they valued him.

I don't know if Roldan's versatility would be beneficial if he's not actually good at anything.

I think the standard for a Championship side winger is more then just work rate and defensive effort. If they're not winning and he's not contributing to goals, he won't start.

When you look at the Chile game, we had 30% possession and no shots after Pulisic got hurt. Then we went all out bunker and played 5 backs with 2 6s. This is what you get when you rely on MLS players. And this is why none of those guys can start in the Championship

That's an interesting opinion because Liam Ridgewell who was no longer good enough to play in MLS now starts in the Championship. I think you watch a different Championship than I do!

You didn't like my choices ok. But they are there for you to think about again.

Remind me of someone who actually defends better than Aaron long that wears a USA shirt. And again I'm not talking about their overall game just them defending. Which in the lump it long and hustle bustle of the championship would play quite well.

So Blackburn doesn't want to pay more what the Crew want... but again it's correct. Nobody spends on a foreign player like that aside to bring them in to start.

Roldan is good at things but because he can't dunk and basketball after he dribbles between someone's legs and throws it off the backboard you don't like him... ok. But stamina, dribbling ability, closing down and work rate. Those all play well in the championship.

Ditto Paul Arriola. He good at a lot but not your cup of tea but yes he's better than some starting wingers in the championship. Not promotion level starter maybe but he's in there.

If you're trying to single out or scout one player what the team did as a whole is not a great reflection of said individual players talent. That's like saying Lewandowski sucks because Poland can't cut it as a team to get him enough chances. Come on.

I also wanted Holmes called up when he played for scunthorpe so it's not an either or thing. I just go player by player what I think.

He hasn't played the last 2 games, but that's 1 example.

I think Greg purposely tried to F over Miazga by pairing him with Omar and starting Bradley at 6 against Chile and I thought Miazga played well. Not knocking Long, but I haven't seen him against quality opposition at the international level or club level other than struggling in CCL.

And I'm sorry I haven't seen Roldan close down or beat ppl off the dribble. I honestly don't know what he did against Chile or what he contributed.

Regarding Arriola, As a winger, how useful are you if you can't beat ppl off the dribble or send an accurate cross?

Lewandowski shows his class every wk with Bayern and even in the national team he stands out.
Greg set the table perfectly for these MLS players to shine against Chile and none of them impressed.

Good time to revisit one of my favorite tweets of all time.

Pirlo & Lampard at the airport bar watching Chelsea game. Un-athletic American yells "Switch to nascar. Soccer isn't a real sport" AWKWARD 😳

Looks like he has done well for himself since leaving NYFC. Maybe deserves another look for the Nats, always had good touch.
