Now that's what I call a speculative starting 11.

Here was a thread from almost exactly a year ago. Funny how some people have completely fallen off in a short time

I'd include Donovan and Dempsey if they're still playing and in good physical condition.

Now now, wouldn't be unheard of...I'd be inclined to agree if we didn't have a huge tidal surge of talent coming through, but we have to start focusing on orienting our 2015 U20 WC crop and subsequent 2016 Olympic squad to playing full international football as early as possible.

Give them all an early taste and give them something to work for.

Yes sir, i know there's a difference in talent but Zanetti, Pirlo, and Totti are just a few that have or are playing at high levels.. Even Blanco played a key role for mexijoke at 36-37.. All this if they still have the desire and drive to play.. Or a Confederations cup.

Id expect that Landon hangs up his international cleats after 2015 gold cup (he pretty much owned the gold cup his whole career and is a fitting tourney to go out on). Clint could do the same but I see him much like boca. Slowly lose his spot and in 2017 have the cord cut and fully go to AJ or a new CAM

I would still take that roster I suggested (even though 2 players are not available)

I laughed when I saw Johannsson and Green as my forwards

Provisionally to Bulgaria now. He played in some of the EuroU21 campaign.

Apology in advance for the long-winded post. I agree that there will be at least a little bit of a youth movement. The ranks of 22-25 year-old players is a little thin, relative to the amount of players 21 and younger who seem close to becoming everyday pros for good European teams or upper echelon MLS players. Using the current USMNT formation, here's my best guess (caveat: this excludes players I've never seen play):

Altidore
F. Johnson Flores J. Perez
Bradley Gil
Klute Brooks Besler Acosta
Guzan

Added thoughts: (1) I think the team will be much deeper in 4 years. So this is pretty difficult to predict. (2) I'd love to have Agudelo in there, but I can't see Altidore losing his spot (barring injury). (3) Joel Sonora would be a serious contender, but my gut tells me that he won't play for the U.S. (4) You could go w/ Acosta as the LB and Yedlin on the right. Either way, Acosta is the best American prospect in MLS right now. So I feel like he has to be included.
