I've always found that parity is only good to a certain extent.

One one end you have leagues where there are 2-3 teams that dominate the league, that teams 5-8 CAN beat the best 2-3, but don't that often, 8-12 don't have a very good chance and may win every few years, 13-20 have NO chance of competing with the best 2-3.

On the other end 1-20 there is very little separating them, new champion every year, and each game is truly 50-50 on who will win.

I prefer something in the middle where there are 4-5 teams that will typically win the league, but that teams 6-9 will pose a legit challenge, and teams 10-20 even though their chances of winning the title aren't great, are good enough to beat the top 4-5 teams on any given day.

Also the quality of play/players is important to. Would you rather watch 20 mediocre teams battle it out with 1-2 very good players on each team and the rest of the players generally speaking anywhere from sub-par to good, OR would you rather watch 6-7 VERY good teams battle it out with 13-14 good teams with 4-5 very good players on each team and the rest of the players generally speaking anywhere from average to good?

The quality of play, the quality of players, the quality of competition when you look at those 3 things the EPL comes out on top. Sure some will have better players, better teams, but no one is as strong from 1-20 as the EPL, The Relegated teams in the EPL would at worst be mid-table teams in ANY other league. That's why the Champions league is probably a top 15-20 league in the world. Just so many quality teams in England. Just so much money.

I get why some would rather watch Bundesliga and/or La Liga as the style of play is more pleasing to the eye. But that also depends on what team you are watching in the EPL. The EPL is very diverse (now) in how it plays. You have quite a few teams that play quite attractive football (as attractive as any other team in any other league).

There are some 2 Bundesliga teams that can finish in the 10-15 range in the Epl. England has a lot of teams but when they compete vs other euro clubs they get exposed. I mean didn't West ham just got taken out in Europa league by some random club most have never even heard of.. Epl might have some good Individual players on paper but as teams they aren't that good. And would not be surprised if a big favorite Man U struggles vs Brugge or even get taken out have they drawn Monaco or Lazio I think they would of been out.

Excitement and even in teams. Anyone can beat each other in any game. There is never a clear favorite. in Epl you pretty much can predict who will win. you have your top 4-5 teams in EPL and in MLS there are always surprises top to bottom. Isn't that the card you play when you talk about Epl ??

Yes, the parity card I use. But you cannot tell me you think the level of play between MLS and the EPL is on par. You talk about how there are 2. Bundesliga clubs that could finish in the 10-15 range in the EPL (which by the way isn't true)?? There are MLS teams that would struggle in the Championship in England! I play the parity card because in terms of European leagues, the EPL is not the strongest when it comes to quality on the pitch. But if you think the MLS is even in the top 8 or 9 in the world in quality of play, you...well, you would be you. A moron.

Of course the EPl is much better than MLS they should be... If MLS would spend close to a Billion Dollars in a single Transfer window that would make us the best league in the Planet... Just imagine how many stars would come here to America heck they would take a bit less to come to mls than in the EPl or any other league for that matter. I love this league because we care about the growth of our sport i would bet we play and have more American Players than England does in our league.. That's why England will never prevail in soccer.. Like i said Before i could care less if we are not ranked in the top 10 league wise but will be more than Happy when we USA field a mostly MLS Team on the Field and win International tournaments that will be a huge slap in the face to the rest of the World..

I think what that will ultimately come down to is whether or not, in the future, there will be an international champions league. I think Giovinco is still the outlier in getting big European names to come here, as he has been the only one to do it in his prime. Unless the UEFA CL eventually turns into an international competition, guys will always want to stay in Europe. That's where the tradition and history is. That's where the big clubs are.

I obviously want MLS to grow into a top league in the world, but there's no way you're gonna get me to say that I would rather see one of our guys playing for Columbus or Salt Lake over Barcelona or Bayern Munich. In 10 years, I hope our best players in the U.S. pool are playing for top European clubs. Because that's where the best competition is.

We have the confederaions cup which is a big test for top national teams. Also we have the Club World Cup.. The best from each continent play and is a competetive tournament from what I seen. The reason why Europe is the most competetetive is beacause they have the $$ to spend to bring the best players world wide.. For example a good player in MLS, south America, Asia, Africa ect are making between 60k-150k a year and are offered 1 million plus by a Euro club with a nice transfer fee of course both parties would agree.. MLS is producing players now more than any other time in our short history and it will keep on growing since we have more youths playing soccer.
