It's not that his position was being out wide, it was when he happened to drift wide (in the midfield) and receive the ball. He looked lost in that area of the pitch (beyond just nerves, although that's hard to prove).

I would want to experiment with him as CAM. I just don't like a 2 striker setup for us. I'm sure we will play at least one game with 2 strikers, so we will have more evidence as to its efficacy.

Long time reader of YA. With the absence of Dempsey and Fabian, this could be a decent opportunity to try a 5-3-2. Won't happen, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. With no Besler there is less competition back there. we could easily have the back 3 as Brooks-Gonzo-Cameron. No matter the formation, I want to see Brooks, Cameron, and Gonzo all three games. Lichaj and Beasley fill in as wingbacks, Bradley, Jones, Kljestan as the middies, AJ and Jozy up top. JK will most likely do straight swaps for the absences though.

That would be intresting, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I want to see Boyd and AJ more, with jozy starting the game of course. But I want to see if they are WC ready. Don't want to see EJ I know what he has to offer..

i would have to agree pretty strongly with this - probably the best tactics given the players available

even with full squad it is pretty enticing, but means you have to choose only 1 of LD, AJ and dempsey

4-3-3 gets one more attacker on the field, but both are potentially better options than a 4-4-2 (4-4-1-1, 4-2-3-1)

i am not convinced he could not play wide in a 4-3-3. most likely you are going to have to play SOMEONE somewhat out of position (basically, unless you decide to run a 3-5-2) and I dont think it would be wise to assume AJ is not the best candidate to do that.

we would need to see him start there

The line up Dimo put would be the perfect line for that fromation. But yeah would never work with Deuce and Dono, so why bother..

Dimo I love this idea, I suggested this on another thread, in place of Lichaj at the time with Bedoya, someone vehemently suggested that it was ludicrous to utilize as Bedoya as an attacking wingback, employing lichaj there shouldn't hurt. Question I have for you is when Fab returns, do you employ him on the left or right WB slot. In either case who do you place on the opposite flank?

Bedoya probably doesn't have the defensive chops to pull that off. Plus, if healthy/devoted we have better options on the right in both Cherundolo and Chandler. As for Fabian, he can play on both sides and its really too bad that he'll miss these friendlies. I think we'd be better off coming up with plausible solutions rather than playing the whole "when-he-comes-back-we'll-be-fine" game. Not easy to do though. Injuries really might kill us come WC time.

IDC if he thinks his "commitment' level is not there from Chandler. We are a much better team with him... At least have him train...
How are we a better team with Chandler? He hasn't played in FOREVER with USNT and in his last game with US he got burnt over and over again. I feel better with Evens there, not that I think he's the answer but done more than Chandler!!
