As always there seems to be late player pushes to make a US WC team. Here are the players that I could see making a late push, obviously only a couple would make the team:

Defense:

Brooks: Already seems to be putting his foot in the door. I think his inclusion or exclusion will come down to May. IMO I forsee him overtaking Goodson for the last CB spot.

Lichaj: Outside looking in. Dolo is almost fully back, bot if Dolo has another injury Lichaj could very well be the right man for the job. Will he be called in for the November friendly games?

Klute: The LB spot seems to be sewn up with Beasley and Fabian, but Beasley and Fabian are both prone to injuries, Klute may very well be on that USMNT come 2014.

Chandler: I really don't know what's going on between him and Klinsmann. I would wager that Chandler will be called in for those November friendlies.

CM's:

Williams: Klinsmann really likes Williams, and his inclusion will probably come at the expense of Beckerman.

Gil: If Kljestan, Corona, and Diskerud all either have a dip in form or get injured then for my money Gil is the next in line. January camp call-up seems likely.

Attackers:

Agudelo: If he comes out of the blocks with Stoke in January, and starts to light things up then Klinsmann will have a very hard choice to make. If any of the other strikers dip in form or have an injury then Agudelo will be primed to be on the 2014 WC usmnt.

Zardes: Fast, getting better as a Left winger, and has all of the tools to be special. If Shea continues to ride the pine or Bedoya or Zusi have injuries in my mind Zardes could very well push himself into the equation. For me he should most definitely be getting a look in the January Camp.

Pontius: Bad year for him and DC, but Pontius' skill set would translate over well to the USMNT. Klinsmann likes Pontius, and my guess is that he will be called up in January with possibility of being called up for the November friendlies.

Arriola: He is a lot like Zardes, but a much better passer of the ball. If Tijuana are not in Liga MX playoffs then dont' be surprised if Arriola gets a shock callup to the USMNT for the November friendly games.

Gomez would be atop the list for me. He's now on the outside looking in but some strong performances for los xolos and he could win a ticket to Brazil.

I think you have to at least mention Edu. Anyone on an EPL team could quickly work there way into the equation. Also have been rumblings about him playing some LB which would seemingly put him in the mix with Klute and others

Klute is the only player that has zero caps, and has a chance to make a push for a wc roster spot next year. That would be something amazing... I think he is already better than Beasley...

Again trying to get inside Klinsmann's head, Tim Ream was called up for Bosnia which says he's at least on the radar. His LB and CB versatility could earn him a spot with strong performances and probably and injury or two to the current core of players.

I don't think we'll be seeing Arriola with the USMNT for a while, based on Klinsmann's preference to let these kids develop through the US youth ranks. He's done well in a limited sample size for Club Tijuana but he needs to sustain it throughout an entire season and then some. No need to put that weight on him at such a young age, and additionally very few players are ready for it.

Maybe maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised if Klinsmann gives him a shot. Klinsmann has stated that he doesn't care if a player is 18 or 33 if that player can add something to the team he will consider them.

Edu, Williams, Chandler, and Shea for me.

Edu/Shea- IF they get PT have to consider them.

Williams- Called up to the Bosnia friendly due to good form at Reading. Once he returns to injury, have to consider him due to the fact that he's a more athletic 6 than Beckerman.

Chandler- November is the time for him. Keep on starting and producing and a callup has to be seriously considered. Thought it would be considered for these games but not so much.

Nice list

If you're going to say Arriola, you should add Holmes. I love both players. Both are explosive

I'm in limbo on Zardes.

Holmes, possibly. Arriola does have more first team experience compared to Holmes. I really like Holmes. But for me Arriola is further along for a chance at making this WC.

I will say this though Holmes and Arriola along with Nagbe and Zardes are really going to ease the passing of Donovan and Dempsey during the next cycle.

Or Donovan and Dempsey can aim for another world cup in Russia... assuming they can and are willing to last that long. Hell look at DeRosario 35 yrs old and still playing.

I think we've moved past a stage where a 35 year old is a viable option. Thats a great thing

If they are playing at a level higher than players younger than them, call them in. Just look at Totti right now. Ageless.

This got me thinking about players that made a push in 2013. We've had so many players establish themselves this year it's ridiculous.

1) Beasley - went from out of the MNT picture to the starting LB for the entire year with his play in Denver. He also captained the Gold Cup team.

2) Besler - Shockingly dethroned Bocanegra after making his debut in the camp cupcake match against Canada and Cameron's struggles.

3) Evans - Midway through the camp cupcake game he switched to RB. Now he's Klinsmann's top choice and he scored a massive goal in Jamaica

4) Gonzo - Similar story to Besler but there were higher expectations for Gonzo.

5) Altidore - He came off the bench for much of 2012 and struggled early in 2013 but he went into Beast Mode for AZ and the MNT and is now our clear starter up top.

6) Bedoya - Bedoya was a camp cupcake sub but some solid performances in the Gold Cup plus a good move to France have put him on the inside for a ticket to Brazil for now.

7) Mix - Sure he played and scored against Russia in 2012 but he was also cut from the camp cupcake roster and re-emerged through the Gold Cup

8) Donovan - If this was any other player he'd be near the top of the list but because its landon we expect greatness. JK penalized Landon for longer than he should have but I would have never expected Landon to already have his best stats for the MNT in any calendar year after playing for just a few months.
