why is nobody talking about this guy?

oh, because he is a holding MF. this guy is basically a lock for ROY and at 22 y/o he is making the kind of contribution that kyle beckerman was not able to make until he was 29 (basically "broke out" with RSL in 2011 - catching JKs eye)

powers is the engine room in the center of the rapids midfield, second on the team with 5 assists and also has 4 goals.

both beckerman and jones turn 32 before the world cup and they have both lost a step.

powers has passed perry kitchen (kitchen has 2 goals and 5 assists in 3 full seasons) and im putting powers in the same category as shane oneill - get these guys in (november) and let them battle for a spot in brazil

please watch colorado / seattle tonight so you can get on board with oneill and powers

I think its because he plays in colorado why he doesnt that attention. Tonights colorado vs seattle match will be playoff caliber lets see there. So much young talent that people i guess lose track of teams like colorado

goal powers. 2-0.

i thought seattle was good?

powers in an advanced role tonight, but he is likely a DM at international level - where he has spent most of his time, including college

I dislike that Jurgy has not used an under 21 with frequency or at all.
Bob and Bruce did it with Landon, Beasley, Bradley, Jozy, Agudelo..

Nope he played as the CAM for Notre Dame.

MLS 24 under 24

The Notre Dame product made his way onto this list by playing outside his comfort zone (and excelling) as an attacking midfielder, while also sliding back to man the holding mid role he played in college.

i think he has the tools to make an excellent international DM (or possibly CM)

Originality is not your strong suit.

Powers is originally a box to box CM. You just needed to be corrected because he has never been a straight up DM. He played mostly as a CAM at Notre Dame.

Every game I saw he was playing as a box to box MF.

ok. maybe i was off in suggesting he could be a DM/6. obviously he plays more advanced than thomas and sturgis for colorado (when all 3 play)

so i will revise my original statement and suggest that powers may be a better CM option than diskerud. obviously wildly different players, but you really can not argue with powers' production as an MLS rookie - after a goal and an assist last night he is at 5 and 6 for the season.

at least one to keep an eye on through playoffs and deserves a call in january

Conor O'Brien could finally make his Austrian debut for Wiener Neustadt on Saturday.
