I would have run them over without hesitation. Unfortunately I do see the SUV guy getting charged and jailed for paralyzing one of the bikers.

Probably far from where you are...

Definitely an interesting situation - given that he was terrorized for 50+ blocks, can't say I completely blame him. I know it's unfortunate that the guy who was run over really didn't do anything; however, he was involved in an unpermitted bike rally with guys who were starting trouble. When you see a horde of bikers that essentially try to pull a pit move on you, I think you've earned the right to be pretty scared and act to save your own hide. Especially when they start slashing your tires and beating your car in with helmets.

The guy whose bike he hit has no excuse: he purposely slowed down right on his bunker. He was asking for it. Sad that when the other tried to help him that the driver freaked and ran him over. I think if the bikers had a case to make, why not call the police? Oh, because you're in an illegal motorcycle race and it was a better idea to pursue this guy for miles and drag him out of his car and beat the hell out of him.

Condolences to the family of the paralyzed biker - sad thing to have happen. However, the stage was set: you associate with people involved in sketchy deals like that rally and you invite trouble. Seemingly doing the right thing doesn't always have a silver lining, sadly. I also don't agree with the allusions being made to him having a nice car and being some rich jerk. Whether it be a clunker or a Rolls Royce, it doesn't justify the action those bikers took.

Sorry for the rant - our government did shut down somewhere during this. Should probably shift focus elsewhere.....

What's sick about the whole thing is that the police knew this biker gang was out that day and were told to leave them be. I was in the city that day about an hour before that incident happened. My family (wife and two kids) and I were driving up 1st avenue to a light that was green for us. I heard this roar off to the left and looked so see the whole gang (50 or more of them) blow the red light, cutting off a couple cars and almost causing an accident. They were pulling wheelies, up on the sidewalk, and going way over the speed limit in a residential section. Luckily I saw them early enough to stop quick. F'd up thing is that there were 2 police officers standing right there on the corner and they did absolutely NOTHING, not even radio for help. Just kept on talking as if nothing happened If anyone gets sued in the whole thing, it should be NYC and the police department. Protect and serve my a**.

I dont feel bad for the paralyzed biker one bit. The claim by his wife that he was going over to help out is bull crap. This gang thought it would be funny to bully some "rich upper class white guy". When the guy tried to do the right thing and keep driving instead of pulling over and letting these knuckleheads own the road they took offense and caused this whole thing. If Im in a car with my wife and children and something like this happens Im doing what I can to get them to safety. The only victim is the SUV driver and his family. Luckily since one knucklehead filmed the whole thing and put it on the internet the SUV driver will likely not even be charged, and if he does wont be convicted. In fact this is the easiest self defense case ever. Theres all the proof right there that the motorcyclists instigated, escalated, and proved the SUV drivers fears right by slashing his tires, smashing his windows, and beating him up.

Every one of these bikers should get Darwin awards.

They were probably caught up with the power of bike and Mad Max movie.

That guy got paralyzed? That's awesome. I hope I'm not an asshole for really being happy about that. Yes, Darwin awards. What a bunch of douches.
