The streak lives on.

Guzan is going to Middlesboro on a free transfer to keep the streak of American goalies in EPL going strong. He will have to fight to become the #1 but judging by the fact that they'll likely struggle to avoid relegation he'll surely get his chances throughout the year.

If they don't struggle they'll have no reason to bench Valdes, so it sucks but we almost have to hope for that in order for him to have any shot at getting real time between the pipes. We'll be in a bit of a precarious situation if not in terms of USMNT goalkeeping if he doesn't.

I think this move solidifies the fact that our starting keeper going forward will either be Howard, or one of the young guys. The ONLY way Guzan sees the pitch for Boro is if Valdes' form dips and he's benched for a couple games. Similar to what happened last season with Cortouis. Begovic came in and started a few games, but it was always Cortouis' spot.

Wouldn't be shocked if Howard is the #1 and Horvath is our new #2.

Middlesborogh will almost certainly go on an extended run of not winning games and will almost certainly be fighting to avoid relegation. When that happens in November/December they'll surely go to Guzan just to "mix it up". Guzan just has to be ready and hope the team starts winning when this happens because if they dont they'll surely switch back to Valdes. But I would bet that at some point before the winter transfer window Guzan is put in there for a solid stretch. Up to him, and luck, to keep it after that.

is David Bingham bad?

from what little I've seen I liked the fact that he wants to play with his feet.

Guzan made one great stop, partially at fault for sunderland's goal as he wasn't able to hold the ball or parry it wide, and then spilled another one that resulted in a corner. Certainly not a convincing performance.

Reports were he only got the start due to injury. However coming off a win I would think he will likely be out there next match and on a short leash (ie start until a loss or bad draw)

Given that MLS has run two pieces on him this week, I'd say he's definitely coming to MLS sooner rather than later.

Id agree. I wonder what shady Mickey Mouse rule they will use to put him on a specific team.

He's from Chicago and Atlanta are supposedly close to acquiring Sean Johnson. Seems like an obvious fit to me.

Schweinsteiger and Guzan would inject life into a team that has become the bottom feeders of the league.

The timing doesn't work but under different circumstances I'd like to see El Guzano back in LA with LAFC.

I feel bad for Guzan. I've said for a year now Sean Johnson was going to Atlanta, and part of the reason for his poor play last year was the direction the club are headed in, on all fronts. Guzan himself will spiral down the abyss as well, this move if it comes off would be the end of his competitive career with the usmnt. I agree that he should go elsewhere than Chicago but it seems like a foregone conclusion. Welcome back? It's not what you remember from the PDL days, Brad....

The Galaxy desperately need a decent goalie. They have DP/budget room too.
