I would guess that it's going to be a fight at camp between Guzan, Hamid, Yarborough, Klinsy jr, and SKangles...

I didn't think that Given was at fault for either goal. He has looked great in their cup run. Right now I rate him higher than Guzan. I honestly think that Guzan may not be good enough to take over the national team duties from Howard.
The PK is always a toss up but the second goal, I know he's claiming he was run into, he should have tipped over easily or even caught it.

Haha, what? Why did I make your list? I wouldn't mind riding the pine just to watch the games from a great seat.

At the Moment Guzan is the Best Keeper in the USMNT Pool. Is he a finished product...no. Guzan is a great shot stopper and is good on crosses. Needs work on his communications with his back-line, and is not great with the ball at his feet.
But he is better than Rimando, Yarbrough, Hamid, & S. Johnson (for now). Will he still be the #1 come 2018....who can tell.

We figured out that your name means "Soccer Keeper angles".

No, I'm not a keeper. Skangles doesn't have a meaning, it's just a name I use to spit nonsense onto the interweb 2600 times.

I feel like this is Villa's year for the drop, though I also said it the last two years as well. If they do get relegated, where do we see Guzan ending up? Playing in the Championship or making a move? I can't say I've seen very many keepers move after relegation, nor do I think he is a good enough commodity to look for a switch to a better club.

Seeing Given play in FA cup action, he definitely is an adequate back-up, if not better than Guzan. Villa may want to cut some wages if they do go down.

Funny you mention this. I was just talking to my friend while tailgating the revs fame this very question. My opinion is if Lloris does in fact move on Guzan could make a good target for Spurs. Would also be a great move for Guzan (same level as Howard). It just seems like a perfect fit to me.

A lot depends on what happens the next three games. Sherwood seems to be favoring Shay Given of late.

Does Guzan stay as the USMNT's #1 for the Gold Cup if he stays on the bench for the rest of the season? Rimando seems more likely to start the Gold Cup IMO. Remember Rimando and Guzan were pretty much even in Klinsmann's eye after Howard stepped down.

Will Klinsmann try to convince Howard to come back for the Gold Cup?

Boy would that get some US soccer heads all hot and bothered. Lando takes a break and in their eyes is never forgiven by Jurgen. Howard takes a break and walks right into the starting role. My god the hatred spewing articles would be crazy.

If you ask me Id be ok with it as Howard is a goalie. Its not like he loses matchday fitness. The drop off from him to Rimando is huge where the drop from Landon to Bedoya/Dempsey (who actually filled his role) wasnt. I dont think you can ever have a blanket statement (some say you cant lose your starting job to injury, tell that to Tom Brady). But man would it be fun to talk about

Big difference. Lando chose to take break during crucial WC qualifying, Howard just off WC taking a year from so much trans-Atlantic travel between Everton and usmnt to spend quality family time and break from years of travel. I don't think people would see "hypocrisy" by JK.

I guess I dont consider playing vs antigua and barbuda and guatemala as crucial. I dont think he did either.

If JK starts Rimando ahead of Guzan I will join the sites nutters and scream anti German nonsense and whine about Landycakes. Rimando is never as good as Guzan and Jurgen knows that well.

Was any official word given by the head coach as to why Guzan sat the bench their last game? Sometimes a coach will just sit a guy a week to give him perspective or light a fire under him. Guzan has had so many stellar games for them that I find it hard to believe they would permanently bench him over a few bad games.
