Guzan with the game-winning assist in Villa's shocking win over Man Shitty today. Had to feel a little unlucky on the first goal he conceded, but came up with some good stops later on.

What a great #2 keeper to have.

Wrong. Great #1 keeper we have. We should be playing the better player.

It's so hard to chose between Howard and Guzan. We should be grateful to have both of them. I would not be surprised if Guzan is named the #1 GK at the WC though.

Everton is undefeated so far. Before people go kicking Howard to the curb he may be in the process of leading Everton to a top 4 finish

Yep its weird how some see the great form of Guzan but not Howard. He's been a rock for Everton to begin this year.

For the USMNT he has only been so-so. Everton is not going to have a top 4 finish, lets not get ahead of ourselves, the quality in the EPL top dogs will eventually come out.

Guzan had some good stops and some excellent distribution this game. If nothing else, Howard has the ability to marshal a back four that I haven't seen fully developed in Guzan. How do you get two goals off of set plays without the 'keeper being partially responsible? I have no confidence in Vlaar. As center back and captain he bears most of the blame for this leaky defense. I have more confidence in Howard to keep the backs in line, and ultimately I think this trumps Guzan's phenomenal shot stopping ability. In my opinion Vlaar is no different than Bent or Ireland: expensive, worthless, and not fit to play for Villa.

So its ok to get ahead of ourselves over Guzans start to the EPL season but not Howard? We shouldnt get ahead of ourselves. Howard was one of the top 6-7 goalies in EPL last year, and has been the same this year. Guzan has been great but so has Howard. Its backup QB syndrome aka Tom Brady syndrome. Everyone thinks the backup is a future hall of famer because he doesnt play enough to be exposed or game planned against. Unless Howard has a long stretch of poor performance hes our guy. Goalies dont really vary from club to country. Not like hes playing a different formation or not a good fit

It just seems to me that we are never happy enough with our 'bad' options all over the pitch. It's it great to actually have two top quality (I'd claim we've had 2+ top talent options for years) to have to figure out who to play...I'd hate to see what you all would do if you were Spanish...oh Xavi with that ONE not perfect pass etc.

Only 27 minutes in to this match, and Howard and Guzan are lighting up Villa Park. Howard with an unbelievable save on a Benteke penalty, plus another couple great saves. Looks great coming off his line. And Guzan just had a tremendous save on a Lukaku header.

We are so lucky to have this luxury.

It was a pretty boring game vrs Sunderland today, but Guzan shows how much better his ball distribution is this year compared to last year. Too bad there was no Altidore vrs Guzan battle, I was really looking forward to that. Additionally, I don't see Bacuna as a step up compared to Lichaj. I am still at a loss as to why they got rid of him.

I hate to say it but Guzan should be playing for a better team. I was wondering if anyone else thinks that his decent play behind such a woeful back line makes him a better choice than Howard at the World Cup. Howard has a significantly better defense to back him up.

Idk if he is better than Howard. Pretty hard to really say but true Howard does have a top tier defense back line. Guzan should be in a better team but the fact that he is "American" hurts him. Guzan should be in a top 6 team as a starter.
