There's no question Brooks is probably in our two or three most talented players, but his experience and consistency are definitely issues. If he was consistent as he is talented, he probably would be playing for Bayern rather than be scouted by them. Nobody wants to see the guy injured, but I would be more concerned if Cameron wasn't healthy and ready to go than Brooks right now, as @portcity just said, there are concerns over the organizing and communication. To be clear, Brooks is a must for the World Cup 2018, but in the meantime, he needs to improve for club and country because he is inconsistent... some of the goals allowed on crosses into the box etc just shouldn't be happening with a guy with his talent and athleticism- except that he still has some veteran tricks he hasn't learned yet. Good luck with his rehab, we need him to be healthy for the long term, not rushed back.

Brooks needs to be able to fly across the Atlantic and not get hurt or tighten up where he is unable to play.

Damn Goods you got me thanking.

I truely feel, the only defender mature enough to handle let's say, the movement of very sophisticated attackers like Gyan, Ayew brothers, etc is brooks (his tackle in the box after we gifted possession was incredible, In my heart of hearts, as much love as i have for besler, gonzalez even cameron, those guys would have been had, Brooks cut them out, same with his epic 3 v 1 where he was the 1 in the conmenbol cup)

but brooks too is the only one that would be caught in a position like he was in Costa rica, literally a tim ream moment, where you try to get too fancy or complicated an easy situation and literally gift an attack, this would def happen on the road, on a tough field, in an environment that's "hostile" to you.

so the question is....

do you think we have two squads?

the squad that is euro ready, tournament cup personnel guys like Brooks Chandler etc, guys who undertsand hw to play on a pitch with no bumps, one touch, find the open man, don't just blast the ball

but we only get to THOSE guys after concacaf debacles?

lol what a trip.

Because there's no way Brooks isn't the best CB in our team.

I agree. Right now Brooks is easily the best CB. But I am sure Hertha and USMNT are tiring of his flight injuries. Plus once we get to the League of Nations and fewer to no Euro friendlies how valuable will Brooks and the USMNT be to each other after the World Cup. I could easily see each other distance from each other. Heck, the same could be said for all the Euro based players. And your point of needing two teams will be more and more the case. One for the stupid league of nations and one for World cup, and limited time together. This could be bad for USMNT and Mexico to a lesser degree, thanks UEFA.

Brooks is joining Wolfsburg on an American record transfer of almost $19 million. Odd to see him drop from midtable Europa team to the team that had to play in the promotion playoffs. Hopefully Wolfsburg does some other stuff and gets back away from danger.

I dont like it, Hertha was a fun team to watch and Brooks was an important part of their success but for the money Wolfsburg was throwing around I can understand it (I read that it was 20m euros).

The last game of the season was not going to make a big team want him more, but it could make one question do we really want him. With the opportunity to miss the Europa qualifiers and play extra games Hertha had as bad a game as one could find. Brooks got dubbed out at half because his play was pretty bad, and he proved his biggest weakness again. Go at him early and even if he did nothing wrong on an early goal, he over beats himself up and he is vulnerable throughout the game. I am more surprised by the money he go than the team he went to. With his talent a Champions League level team should have brought him in to compete for a spot.

And perhaps he did not want to compete for a spot and Wolfsburg was big enough money plus the automatic spot to start.

Even though Hertha is in the Europa this next season, Wolfsburg are the bigger club. Up until these last couple years, they've been one of Germany's best clubs. Shit, two seasons ago they finished 2nd in the league, then last year in the UCL they topped their group and had a 2-0 advantage against future winners Madrid heading into the second leg of their QF tie.

I think this is a great move for him.

Hertha probably values him but not more than the money being offered. If I were playing FIFA, or football manager, I can take that 22 million and buy 2 to 3 players with promise and gamble on my young defenders I have in the ranks.

Brooks will now have the expectation of being a solid consistent performer. Something I believe was a complaint from Hertha at various times.

I honestly thought that a solid Brooks, on form like during the Copa would command more.

I look at Joel Matip and thought maybe Brooks would follow suit.

In a way he has right? Liverpool is a historic club with aspirations of returning to the forefront.

I wouldn't put Brooks on par with Matip. Not until he can show more consistency. Matip (when healthy) was stellar for the shite.

He's not Matip. Which is why I feel a bit of sadness he couldn't match that arc. But I don't think they're that far apart.

On Brooks very good days, he's as good.
