I'd be ok with a summer transfer especially if he has a good Copa2016 guarding those South American stars. He has to be seen as a difference maker by the purchasing club. Normally Americans- even Bradley and Dempsey (modern best 2) were seen as squad players by Roma and Spurs respectively.

If Hertha stays in UCL spot then I think he'll look to stay. That club on paper has money so they should be able to build a consistent top 4 bundesliga team. Consistent UCL appearances will make it hard for Brooks to leave if they dont offer him appropriate salaries. He's likely just switching agents to prepare for the wages negotiations coming up in the not too distant future.

It does make sense if you look at the timeline.
June- Copa.
July- Sign extension or be transferred pending a successful Copa performance.

I don't know if it's s great move. Schalke used to be a big club, don't know about that these days.

That would be a downgrade for brooks if he goes there. Berlin are on pace to go to Champs league, and Schalke are not. Berlin is a much better team right now.

Schalke is only 6pts behind Berlin right now. Schalke will always be the bigger club with more resources. I like it.
If you don't love it, leave it, USA #1

We will see. Costigan covers the Bundesliga for Fox so he's a very credible source. I do wonder if this is actually finalized

Schalke is a way bigger club that's a great move they are a champions league team about every other year, and great players including the Godfather have played there. I like it-- their stadium alone is worth the move.

I do agree Schalke is a good move for him. But it looks like that isn't happening until the summer.

I think its for the best at least till the end of the season. Gets to continue getting Bundesliga minutes and if he wants to leave for a bigger club then he will get to have a preseason with this new club. If he doesnt leave then depending on Hertha than he might be playing CL football next season.

If he leaves I hope it is this off-season, that way he'll have 2 season's under his belt at the new club for 2018. I hate seeing guys transfer the year before the world Cup.

Hertha sporting director tweeting today that JAB signed a new deal. Good for him. Unfortunate it had to happen on a day when they fucked up getting the 3 points.

I think that's a good thing. Hertha are a team on the rise. I would love to see Hertha go out and Buy Wood from Union Berlin this summer.

Why leave Hertha right now, currently sitting third in the league.
