According to Fox Sports twitter feed, Brooks had an own goal and committed a foul in the box, both resulting in goals for Hoffenheim. Down 2-0.

Bad timing. These errors will be criticized heavily considering the light he's been put in by us and the media with his great form (and the MotM last week).

Eh. He had a bad game. I'm not going to read into it too much. He's still young, and he'll bounce back.

Bad game. It happens to many more experienced defenders than him. Seriously there is nothing to read into it. You have good games and sometimes you have a bad games.

People get to carried away with performances from game to game.

All of a sudden he has a few good games and people start jumping on the bandwagon. Now with his performance today not a top 5 CB for us that's typical American soccer fans. But if he does play bad for the MNT I wouldn't want him no matter how great he is doing club wise has to be consistent.

Lol. Truly the dumbest. Go back to the last 4 posts and find where someone says he's no longer a top 5 center back for the USMNT.

I'm waiting.

Yeah I don't see anyone saying he isn't a top 5 CB for the USMNT. He is still #1.

I didn't see people jumping on any kind of bandwagon either.

Fans that have followed John Brooks since 2010 will tell you that he was and still is the brightest prospect at CB for the USMNT in the past decade.

Oh yea go back all the way up to the WC and before Posts.
peoples pecking order always change. At a time many had Besler #1 then Gonzo, at some time Brooks, at other times Orozco, the same with all the other positions, a couple months from now everything will be different once again leading up all the way to the 2018 WC there will be easily over 100 different ratings and line ups.

Yeah....no one was talking about pre-WC. Here was your comment:

That's YOU referring to today's game. Not once did someone say he wasn't a top 5 CB, or mention anything pre-WC related.

I'm just so confused how you keep trying to defend your points, when there's physical evidence that they're nonsense.

No thats not me saying that is how typical American soccer fans react. And im NOT talking about here on YA abroad check on soccer twitter pages and you can see not 1 but thousands of different posts, not just on brooks but on Altidore, othera also. I remember when we got out of group stage everyone was praising USA but after the Belgium loss they were criticized ridicule and bashed on by millions of people for their field of play the only bright spot of course Tim Howard.

I'm thinking this was just a one-off for JAB. He had been in such great form of late and really seemed to be turning the corner in his coach's eyes from a maturity perspective. To quote James Harden, all the greats have short memories so hopefully JAB does too.

Well he has been sub par the last 2 games. Hope he starts playing better if not back to the bench. On another topic what the hell happened to Fabian Johnson ???? if he is not playing JK should not even call him up.

??? You mean the defense that has allowed 9 Goals the past 2 games. Don't you mean before that. And brooks was a huge reason why. Lets not forget Many of us were bashing on brooks when he started playing for USA and had terrible games, and some here did not even want him in the 23 for Brazil. I myself know for a fact some here would not even include him in the gold cup a month or so before. peoples opinions and preferences change often myself included is normal human behavior no harm done.
And lets not forget Berlin are near the relegation Zone.

You should've said this from the outset. While I do agree that the Hertha defense as a whole hasn't exactly been stellar, you must admit Brooks had stepped his level up and was easily the best American defender the past month. It's just about consistency at this point.
