Heard good things about his performance once he settled in. Been eager to see this guy in a USMNT jersey, think he can be a good attacking spark for us.

On the bench today....early red card for Wigan may give him an opportunity for a runout.

Duane is now at Derby and he continues to put in great performances. Won't be surprised to see him on the Gold Cup team this summer. I really believe Duane is a premier league quality player.

The fact his manager and all around great English tool is Frank Lampard will only help Holmes push forward. He's been a favorite of mine since he was on loan at Yeovil Town a few years ago. He definitely has the winger skills to find a teammate that say Sabbi or Amon for example don't yet have. I'd love to see him called in March over his younger, more hyped teammates like Gall or Weah.

I just started watching Sunderland Til I Die on Netflix. I am only two episodes in and it is excellent.

The second episode covers the August 2017 transfer deadline. At one point they flash up a list of 10-15 transfer targets on the screen and Emerson Hynman's name was on the list. In the next scene their head of scouting was at a Scunthorpe game to scout Duane Holmes but decides that they could do better. They couldn't and they didn't but it certainly worked out well for Holmes.

Anyway check out the series, it is really well done.

I have no issues with calling in Holmes if he's getting regular sub minutes (and cup starts) for Derby, as he'd likely be an option off the bench for us as well.

90 minutes yesterday in a loss to Leeds. Holmes has really been getting run.

Maybe Ive missed some reports, but Ive always wondered how Arriola and some others were tried multiple times rather than checking out Holmes, especially in the Euro camps.

Or because Holmes was having a hard time establishing himself, went on loan a few times, went to League One, and is only now getting regular minutes with a top half Championship team. I like Holmes but he wasn't exactly lighting it up in a top league for years and being ignored.

No matter, that's false either way (he has only 5 starts, 8 sub appearances in 32 matches). And it's just part of one season.

So they played 24 Championship games in fall/ winter 2018 and Holmes appeared in nearly half of them.
That's regular in my books.
And because of MLS politics he couldn't get a call up over Trapp, Delgado, Acosta, Roldan, Bradley, Picault.
I'd even say even tho they play different positions Villafana and Sweat, have no business near a natl team roster and we'd be better converting at rb or wing midfielder than calling them.

bjelks, your book is a compendium of nonsense. He made 1 league appearance as a sub before November (when our last friendlies were). He just started seeing the field regularly at the beginning of November. Were we supposed to call him in for the fall friendlies when he was just barely breaking into his club team? If he keeps playing regularly we can call him for the March matches.
