Yeah he returned to Huddersfield and has been playing with the u21s. Had high hopes for this kid when he had such a great debut. Thought Holmes, Lletget, or Stanko would have a break out season this year. None of them have..

Gboly is still with Chesterfield and MLS clubs will look at him in the summer. He will be a free agent.

This is what's exciting right now, in terms of our national team prospects. You named 3 players that we all thought would maybe have breakout seasons, and they haven't. That's not to say they're busts. They still could prove to be great players. But what's exciting for me is that even if they ARE busts, we have so many other options coming through the pipeline. We've never had such an abundance of talent coming through the ranks, and so when we do have prospects who fizzle out, it's not as dire of a situation as it used to be.

Exciting times for sure.

Very exciting times.

We have no lack of CM prospects coming up. Still have hope Lletget and Holmes can get PT and Stanko comes back from injury strong. The more successful players we have abroad the better.

Looks like Duane Holmes is getting a new head coach at Huddersfield. Former Borussia Dortmund 2 and US international David Wagner is set to take over at Huddersfield.

Could be a blessing for Holmes who saw his first team opportunities dry up under English coach Chris Powell.

Would love for Holmes to finally get more opportunities to show his talent. I find it interesting that once he went public about wanting to rep the USA, that his opportunities for the first team at Huddersfield dried up. Coincidence?

That happens a lot especially with dual nationals playing in the same country they are considering. Especially Mexico, I feel like Club America did that with Alvarado around the time the CONCACAF Cup was happening.

I was high on Holmes but like you said his minutes started to dry up. Hopefully, Wagner will see his American and will not play favoritism but if he is the right guy for a starting XI spot, let him play.

Duane has some very exciting elements to his game, which I thought he did a pretty fair job of displaying during the limited game action he got. The knocks on him seemed to be mostly related to defensive abilities and physicality (both very important in the Championship). A coach like Wagner who came of age as a player (Mainz, Schalke) and as a coach in disciplined systems could help with any lingering defensive shortcomings, and physical maturity should help with the rest. I don't think there are many doubts regarding his attacking spark and creativity. Duane has been making the bench for Huddersfield, let's hope that progresses to seeing more of the field under Wagner.

I think Huddersfield is trying to grind and stay up in the championship, a gritty league Holmes looked ok in for Yeovil on loan two seasons ago. But Mark Robins liked him, not as much Chris Powell. Let's hope Wagner does play favorites if he likes Holmes. No I don't think Huddersfield cares about Holmes wanting to play for USA... If he could ever stay in the first team the fans there love him because despite his nationality, he is Huddersfield through and through from what I understand.

I am an admitted Holmes muppet, kid can play with the ball which we sorely lack. If he doesn't make it in England I would like to see him pull a Lletget and come to MLS before he's too old.

Good old David Wagner has started Holmes today for Huddersfield who are winning 1-0 currently. Holmes should be in the picture for the 2 leg series vs Colombia. For me he would look good opposite kiesewetter with Morris and Rubin (or Saief he switches) up top.

I watched him play only a couple of times but looked really good from what I saw. My take on seeing him 3x was maybe not an senior international for 90, but someone you could bring on around the 65th min or so, he took people on made good runs and was fast, a player to watch...

Love seeing this guy back in the fold. He was flirting with a string of starts for Huddersfield then fell off the map. Will have to keep an eye on Huddersfield again.

Starting again today. Do we love David Wagner just a little bit more than we already did?

Looks more more like he was benched because he had picked US. Such a shame.
