Yes, but, Holmes shot created the opportunity.
He almost scored another

He should have scored the other, or at least passed to the open man. As I said, he is noticeably raw. He isn't quite ready for a January callup (not meant as insult).

Holmes played well. Bright future for him. I see what he was trying to do when he was in the 18 with a lone defender. He set up the defender perfectly by going slightly wide and then cut it back with his right, but the ball hit his left foot which caused the ball to deflect right into the defender. Other wise that would have been a goal.

He wouldn't be called up to the January Camp anyway. He plays in England during January.

Holmes eerily resembles a 20's Michael Jackson.

The question is, was it his youth, poor touch, or a crap field. Not that he didn't fit in with his team, but several times his touch left him in trouble.

Saw some bright spots, his shot that created the goal was very well struck, although any decent keeper holds onto that or pushes it away not allowing an opportunity. Seemed willing to take on players, but also to the detriment of his team (trying to take on a player with 1' to go, losing possession allowing for one last attack for the opponent). Through ball was nice late in the game and made the right run to receive it back. Made some smart decisions playing the simple pass.

Only match I've seen him play though, no reason to take too many positives or negatives from it. Just hoping that touch was more to do with weather conditions/having an off day than current skill.

I'll take his Coach's words who has rave reviews for him :-)
I for one, loved his game

His coach is actively trying to nurture him, you have to take his words with a grain of salt. I am not suggesting it was a poor game, I am suggesting he was very raw. That will dissipate in time.

I hope he turns out to be a star as much as anyone, today I didn't see it is all I'm saying. Again, that means little. It's one sub appearance as I stated, I'm not claiming to know him as a player, only speaking of his play on this specific day. Today, his touch left him in trouble on several occasions.

And again, the field looked very poor so that could have very well been the reason, most players adjusted over the match, he had less time.

edit: "By the way the USA chants are unreal I love it!" - Holmes after the match.

I have seen a couple of games of his. His touch was slightly off today, but that field didn't help either.

Holmes should start from now on. Wouldnt be surprised if a bpl team gets him next year. He is an intriguing young prospect many teams will want to take a chance on.
