Luis Gil said he has not personally heard from Mexico. When asked if that would interest him: "Not really."

Dolcem hit the road with that Jose Torres shit! He's a solid player ill give you that but he isn't the most underrated, that goes to Kyle Beckerman for me. A very solid player who still after very good performances doesn't get the love he deserves. Back to Gil glad to hear that. I can't fathom why people are not excited about Gil as they used to be. He has developed as good as anyone could have hoped for. Next year will be a big year in deciding if Gil really is the player we hope he is. I also think calling him in around Jan. Camp is good because he competes with the best players from MLS. If he does well in camp he will get the boost in confidence to take his game to the next level. One more thing this blog is subjective, we all have our favourites, and rate different leagues, and that's OK. We are FANS, and Diehard ones, I'm just glad to see the blog grow from a couple users posting to one of the best forums for us FANS to speak our mind and give our opinion.

I do agree that Beckerman gets way too much criticism and I understand why Klinsmann picks him (I'm OK with a coach picking one or two players based solely on their attitude their ability to follow instructions, people give JK way too much shit for picking him) but let's be realistic, Beckerman will really struggle against tougher opposition...the speed of the game will be just too fast for him. I'm hoping that he doesn't play much in 2014.

As far as Torres goes, I'll give him the tag as most underrated player because no one here even puts him in the conversation for CM. He is, IMO, hands down our third best CM and better than Diskerud, Kljestan, and Beckerman. He just hasn't been tried there (45 minutes under JK). I can't believe I'm the only person here bothered by this. People are talking about the need for a player like Luis Gil and Torres is that player, except (at the moment) much better.

But I've already broken my promise. Back to Gil. I'm not worried and no one else should be...Gil will play for the US. I don't think Mexico needs him, either. They're probably doing it just to mess with us.

End of thread. Gil's heart belongs to the USA.

Its not that Im not excited about Gil. Its just he plays arguably our deepest position. Do losing a 19 year old PROSPECT at our deepest position shouldnt cause you to lose sleep. He is a good pro and could have a long successful career. But does he look like hes going to be a world class midfielder? Does he look like he'll be better than Bradley in the next 4 years? I say no to both so as great as I think he can be if he wanted to chose Mexico I dont think the US would be that heartbroken over his decision

He doesn't need to be World Class. Bradley is above every midfield player for the next 4 maybe 5 years so you really can't say will if he is not better than Bradley he shouldn't be on the team. On knock I'll give you is I don't think he is strong enough yet on either side of the ball to hold his own in a 2 man midfield, I could see him in a 3 man one definitely, and I do think the USMNT moves towards a 4-3-3 formation next cycle.
