i would go into october thinking brooks / goodson is my best option

1) brooks - starting at Hertha Berlin is good enough for me. i will assume he is best LCB option until i see him fail

2) goodson - for me, just looking far more consistent than gonzo or besler

3/4)
gonzo - lots of compliments v mexico but i did not think he was all that strong
- mexico got in behind him when he was caught out of position on multiple occasions
- terrible defending backing off dos santos almost resulted in a goal
- at least a few bad give-aways

besler
- has a really bad habit of getting caught on outside of the attacker he is marking. campbell was not the only time i have seen it recently.

I will continue to state that I think Gonzo and Brooks are the CB tandem in the WC, but both Goodson and Besler are very good options.

As long as Gonzo is healthy he will start regardless. Klinsmann rates him very highly.

Gonzo will probably start in Brazil. I really dont think he should but it is what it is. The best cb pairing would be Brooks and Cameron. If only stoke used him there, I'm confident he'd be our best option. Seeing as that wont happen, I say besler and brooks are our best pairing. I know they both have left feet but idk. Only thing i'd be comfortable with. Definitely not a strong point for the usmnt

I think Besler/Goodson is the best pairing right now. I don't trust Gonzo to be consistent enough game to game and Besler has the pace and ball playing ability out of the back.

I think Gonzo is talented but has to be perfect with his positioning with his lack of speed. Brooks I haven't seen enough of but just because he's starting for Hertha doesn't mean he's automatically better than Besler who has been consistently one of the best CB's in the MLS for a few years now.

I'd be interested in seeing a Besler/Brooks pairing but from the sounds of it they both play LCB and so far I haven't seen or heard anyone saying that one could shift over so it sounds like it's one or the other.

Besler/Gonzo for me. Brooks will be a starter soon but right now, Besler and Gonzalez have been a consistent pairing that complement each other well.

Goodson/Gonzo is way too slow for my liking.

Gonzo still makes some awful decisions but getting games will fix that.

My pick would be brooks / besler, if CBs can attack, he has a mean header

I'm just happy we have to have a discussion abut who to see at CB. we have decent depth there and that's a very good thing. Now if we could just figure out our fullback issues.

Id also love to see Brooks and Cameron I think they both have great touch on the ball and we'd be amazed at how quickly we'd get the ball up the field to MB and the midfield

update

brooks / goodson - 1
brooks / gonzo - 3
brooks / besler - 3
besler / goodson - 1
besler / gonzo - 1
brooks / cameron - 1

total votes:
brooks - 8
besler - 5
gonzo -4
goodson - 2
cameron - 1

yet another example of why gonzo is a poor option:

i think goodson is very under-rated at this point.

how is the steady veteran goodson not the best option to partner brooks?
