friendlies I would of loved to see At Barranquilla Colombia, And at Buenos Aires Argentina, or both at a neutral site in Brazil.. Since they already qualified it would be the perfect test to see where we stand.. Not some mediocre European teams that are already done, or might not qualify.. Were better off with a friendly with an asian/oceanic team..

Playing an Asian team is no different then playing a CONCACAF team. Same style just players no one knows. African teams would be nice, but only in neutral Euro countries. We go to Europe because of two things. Safety and $$$. Theres no money in playing in Africa or South America. Thats why none of the Euorpean or South American teams do it.

Yeah I think way more South American and African teams will be scheduled after the WC.

Not sure we'll see one before.

I think you got the Asian and concacaf teams backward..we'll for japan and South Korea anyways. Bigger names for those two countries than any concacaf team..but yeah playing japan would be like playing ourselves.

Most of the Japanese National team plays in the Japan Super League (almost zero non-japanese) or low level german/dutch teams Yes they have Honda and Kagawa but their team on paper isnt any different then us or Mexico. Even CR is starting to put the same amount of players in euro leagues (Campbell). South Korea has Park but who else do they have? They arent sending their players to UCL caliber teams either. AFC is ridiculously over rated. There bottom teams are amongst the worst in the world. Other than the home tourney where the refs blatantly cheated for SK they never make runs in world cups.

Yep Wahl; confirmed that if Austria get's beaten by Sweden in October and subsequently knocked out of the WC then Austria will be the second team in November.

I would love to see the USMNT back four deal with the pace of Weimann. Otherwise I don't think they have the players to challenge us. Austria have no hope of attending any major competition unless they are hosting it. Sounds like US vs Austria will be a done deal.

Austria is at the same level Bosnia and Belgium were in 2009. On the doorstep of the world cup with some good young talent. Theyve beaten Sweden and Ireland this cycle and control their own destiny (win vs Sweden and they are level on points with a better GD and a match vs Faroe Islands). Alaba and Dragovic are top class talents (Alaba is probably one of the top 5 young defenders in the world) and Spendhofer is on Inter Milan's books so he has talent. There midfield has quality players who play in bundesliga. They are the type of team we'll be competing for to get 2nd place in a group.

England has always dug deep to pull it out against us, I'll take your bet.
