With the amount of talented depth emerging, and the possibility of the USMNT playing in the 2016 Copa America as well as 2 Gold Cups as well as WC qualifying in 2018. I think the USMNT may have enough talent to field two potential "A" teams. Landon Donovan, Howard and Dempsey have made no mention of retiring and because of that I still have them as potential players, and I am including players that will get US citizenship:

First "A" team:

GK: Sean John, Guzan, Howard
Defense: Lichaj, Chandler, Besler, Gonzo, John, Brooks, Fabian, Castillo
CM's: Bradley, Diskerud, Kljestan, Torres, Edu, Zusi
Attackers: Lando, Deuce, Bedoya, Shea, Altidore, Johannsson, EJ

Second "A" team:

GK: Hall, Irwin, Hamid
Defense: Yedlin, Farrell, Hedges, Okugo, Jean-Baptiste, O'Neill, Klute, Sinovic
CM's: Corona, Lletget, Kitchen, McCarty, Gil, Williams
Attackers: Agudelo, Boyd, McInerney, Nagbe, Neagle, Wood, Arriola, Pontius, Zardes, Adu, Hoyos

Now here are a list of players that could very much be in the conversation as well depending on their club careers, and if they decide to play for the USMNT:

Gk: Cropper

Defense: Myers, Acosta, Packwood, Zimmerman, Miazga, Garza
CM's: Rowe, Moreno, Pelosi, Joel Sonora
Attackers: Wooten, Zakuani( would like to become a US citizen and I believe will be eligible to become one in the 2018 WC cycle), Bruin, Julian Green, Shawn Parker, Mario Rodriguez, Junior Flores, Zack Pfeffer, Jose Villarreal, Romain Gall

Now I am not saying that both Dempsey and Donovan may in fact not call it quits after the World Cup, or if Klinsmann decides to move on; that a new coach may be more inclined to break from some of the older players, but if you look at that depth having both Dempsey and Donovan gone makes it less hurtful. And as always there will be other players that come out of nowhere.

USMNT fans excitement should be at an all time high for the next 10 to 12 years with the kind of quality depth being constructed at all positions.

Hey I was going through fifa 13's roster and surprised to learn that Osbaldo Alonso, CDM defector from Cuba, was actually listed as a United States player. Why hasn't this guy gotten any playing time? that guy eats up plenty of space, decent in the tackle, and decent with his passing.

Before the Gold Cup game against Cuba Fox did a special about Alonso and his situation. He can make a one time switch but would need approval from Cuba. Due to the US/Cuba non relationship that hasn't happened. JK was in the piece and said he is someone that he has followed but unless Cuba makes the effort to release him he is stuck, which will never happen. It sucks the FIFA cant use common sense in these situations. He is prolly is past his prime where he would have a chance to make the squad.

You're leaving out Stuart Holden. I would like to see Tim Ream get some playing time again. I don't think Dempsey will go past this WC cycle. LD may go one more.

The interesting thing is with the exception of Brooks its pretty much the old guys vs the young guys and a lot of those young guys will get a chance to prove themselves in the Rio Olympics. Really what this shows is just the ridiculous depth that the US is developing.

Because he can't actually play for the US. FIFA 2013 jumped the gun on that one. Cuba will not give permission to Alonso and the US to file for a one-time switch. Alonso had played in a competitive tourney with Cuba before defecting.
