How about Zimmerman ? Hedges, John, opara, bocanegra ??? Idk about jide couldnt make it with NY red bulls... Looks like a Gonzo Goodson pairing once again...

NY found out Jide had an injury of some sort when they did their physical on him, and then decided to pass. He never had the opportunity to prove himself for the Red Bulls, and quite frankly the Danish Superliga is on equal footing with MLS.

I still think he'd be called up.

Besler is not in form. He has been very shaky since the sept. qualies. Obviously there is 7 months before the WC, so of course naturally he will have more than enough time to get back to form.

Jurgen has showed that he doesn't like to pass on people (especially CBs) due to having poor games. He wants to show its ok to make mistakes (Jozy and Landon were different situations).

Besler has been out of the starting 11 for 3 games straight.

Fabain Johnson picked up an ankle injury today, and has been subbed out. Don't know the extent of the injury, but it looked like he did a Michael Bradley, and rolled over on it. He could be out for the up coming October qualies as well.

Lichaj went full 90 today, and allow me to remind everyone that he can play both right or left back.

Much to my displeasure, I still do not see Jurgen calling up Lichaj for WCQs in Oct. I am calling that right now.

well, the CB plot thickens. besler' stock is really dropping at the moment.

id rate CBs like this at this moment:
1) goodson - combination of experience and steady, solid, play
2) brooks - 20 y/o bundesliga starter
3) gonzalez - prone to a costly mistake here and there
4) oneill - just lacks experience

emergency: cameron

i dont see brooks getting time in these games. hertha just wont want to risk it (and they do have a say when it comes to injuries)

goodson, besler and oneill all have games 2 days before jamaica game. all those teams are clawing for play-off position. no reason for those guys to miss those games. and you are not going to start them v jamaica on 1 day of rest.

jamaica: cameron / gonzalez

LA has a game day after panama game. same deal - no reason to hold on to gonzo after jamaica game

panama: oneill??? / goodson

goodson should start but oneill is probably not going to happen. maybe besler, but maybe cameron again. if cameron ends up getting 2 starts in CB and looks good he could be back in contention for starting CB spot,,,

O'Neill is one for January camp as far as Jurgen is probably concerned.

Everyone is talking CB's. I have a name to throw in, although he hasn't played due to injury but what's thoughts on Edu once healthy and gets playing time at Stoke or somewhere else??

Defensive cunundrum..with the Jamaica match having no bearing to our qualification chances, why not allow the MLS players the chance to play for their teams then join up for the Panama match. For Jamaica:

Guzan
Lichaj, Cameron, Parkhurst, Beasley
Bedoya, Sasha, Jones, Torres
AJ, Boyd

Bench: Howard, Ream, Shea, Mix, Corona, Wood, Gomez

Only if he starts playing cb for club should edu be considered for cb. I dont think he offers anything at cb at the moment unless he starts to play cb for his club. For october qualifiers I think klinsmann owes it to mls with the us national team already qualified not potentially hurting the playoff chances of certain teams. I think a second tier of mls players or other european/mx players along with first team europe players should be called up for the jamaica home game. Then if he wants to he can call up the first tier of players for the panama game.

Anybody know if Besler was trying to play through a nagging injury and finally needed to shut it down?

We should do well against Jamaica, so I don't think it matters who plays CB, but Panama away will be a real nice test.

My money is on Cameron at one of the cb spots. He seems to get the call when we get shorthanded

Nope, he just isn't in very good form at the moment. Ike Opara has been referred to him since the 1-1 draw in the CCL a few weeks ago where he was at fault for not only the goal, but many defensive errors and lapses.
