Now that we are through what do you want / expect to Juergen to do in October?

I think he'll field a roster that is pretty close to full strength and if it's not full strength it will look similar to what we saw tonight.

The players that are clearly on JK's radar that I would like to see more of are:

1) John Anthony Brooks (cap-tying him should be our top priority in Oct)
2) Aron Johannsson
3) Alejandro Bedoya
4) Mix Diskerud
5) Landon Donovan as a withdrawn Forward

The long shots that I'd like to see are Yedlin and Wood but I can't imagine that Klinsmann will call up either player.

I could see him call up Shea and give him a look on the Left Wing if he's able to crack Stoke's lineup over the next few weeks.

Chandler, AZ

I'm good with your desired players but will add to it in that I think JK needs to bring in Lichaj now that we've qualified. The fact that we still need to find Wing Defenders who are actually playing week in week out is telling.
I think that is the biggest hole in the team at the moment so want to see....

Lichaj in camp for evaluation as a Right or Left back.
Yedlin & Ferrell called in for the January camp (both are good prospects for 2018, but not ready for 2014).

Yeah I really would've liked to see a young roster but I think that those qualifiers next month are a really great time to keep the continuity.

Irrespective of the result in Mexico City on the 11th, Panama will enter their match against us with the posibility of landing the fourth spot which means the US will face a hostile environment and a team that is fighting for their lives.

This effectively gives JK one final legitimate test before the World Cup as everything else will be meaningless friendlies. I could see JK fielding his best team against Panama and playing guys like Brooks against Jamaica.

The US is two wins away from placing 1st in the HEX. My guess Klinsmann may not be to keen on going with an inexperienced team in October.

Young players that I think will get called up:

Other players I think should be called in:

Here is my roster if all of these players are healthy:

GK: Rimando, Guzan, Howard
Defense: Lichaj, Chandler, Beasley, Fabian, Brooks, Goodson, Gonzo, Besler
CM's: Bradley, Jones, Diskerud, Beckerman, Kljestan
Attackers: Lando, Bedoya, Deuce, EJ, Shea, Johannsson, Altidore

2tone, the only two changes that I think JK makes to your roster is to swap Evans for Chandler (if he's healthy) and Cameron for Kljestan.

I'm not sure if JK really values Torres more than Kljestan or if he just wanted additional players in practice that understood Mexico but it's possible Kljestan is behind Torres in JK's mind.

Give the Iceman playing time. Get Lichaj some minutes.

I think we win the match with Jamaica with a rather A/B team that includes Johansson and Brooks. For last match we can use experimental team to have young players like brooks and Johansson and what its like to be in a crucial match with high stakes for panama. Panama will definitely need 3 points from us in that last match

I completely agree with this except for Shea, klinsmann will bring in Cameron for when jones gets a red card.

I pray Chandler gets his spot back at Nurnberg. His and Lichaj's inclusion would make this team that more balanced.

Guys what are your opinion on Alejandro Bedoya against Mexico? If he keeps playing in Ligue 1 he is an excellent bench option for us in World CUp. It's all about that work rate in attack and defense!

I thought he had an okay game great workrate though almost created the first goal from that but his pass was just ahead of ej. I think if he gets more time with the team he can definitely cement his spot with the usmnt. My guess is klinsmann plays more of an a/b team with most of the european players not playing except potentially lichaj, johannson, brooks, klijestan, chandler, and bedoya since klinsmann probably wants to see if he could potentially take over on the right side. It will be a mostly mls team if the us team automatically qualifies. I think this is smart remember last time we played a WCQ in 2010 that meant nothing with our starters onyewu was lost for the season also dont forget charlie davies gets in horffic car accident. Truth of the matter is try not to include anyone from the starting 11 or players you dont need to for these qualifiers. At this point its simply a pride point to be finish first even if we win next 2 games and remaning friendlies we are very unlikely to be seeded in the first pot. I say give our regulars a rest and lets give the rest of our players a test of world cup qualifying along with players who have fallen down the depth chart.

Its pretty bad form, bad karma, not to put out as close to a top 11 as possible, at least in matches that can decide who goes to a WC. Of course you dont push anyone who is not 100% healthy, but otherwise top 11.
The Jamaica game is nearly meaningless, so maybe you can experiment with 2-3 spots there, but Panama match may really decide things.

Back in the early 90s when Fox introduced the NFL scores in the corner of the screen it was pretty ground breaking but in the 2013 era of DVRs and smart phones the fact that ESPN is constantly interrupting to tell you the scores of other games is infuriating. If you want to know the score just check your phone / computer / tablet.

This is really going to drive me nuts on October 11th as naturally my priorities are with the US but as a fan of the sport I would really like to DVR and then watch the Mexico vs Panama game afterwards. Mexico vs Panama is set up to be an all out battle and I enjoy the game much more when I don't know the result but ESPN is sure to let us know the Mexico result at least 4 times during the US game.

EDIT: The US vs Jamaica game is at 5:30pm Central time? Crazy. I guess I got my wish then but I stand by my point that ESPN's updates are totally ridiculous in today's era.

We need to remember that we still need to finish at the top of the group. We can play guys, but we need to make sure that those are smart decisions that wont cause us to slip out of first place inf CONCACAF.

Players we should have play in October

John Anthony Brooks (we need to cap tie him)
Aron Johannsson
Break Shea
Alejandro Bedoya
Mix Diskerud
Eric Lichaj
Brad Guzan (needs to get some more time so he can be more comfortable playing if something happens to Howard)
Corey Ashe

I know Corey Ashe is a wild one that may sound out there, but he is good. Not only that, but he deserves to play and get a cap for the USMNT. He has great speed and would match up well against Jamaica.
