Torres could get the start. But would like to see Mix in there. Not entirely comfortable with a Goodson-Gonzo pairing but I'll watch and see what happens.

Davis is a good guy to sub in late.

riddle me this:

- clearly, there was never any intention to actually play brooks
- orozco was your #1 RB option (after evans injured)
- cameron came in as your #3 CM (starter when MB went down)

this means he basically brought in 2 CBs - besler and gonzo. how is goodson not on the original roster?

seems like really sketchy roster management

why would torres possibly start? JK preferred KB and MD is gold cup AND chose them over torres for the roster. how could he possibly jump ahead all of the sudden?

Having 3 CBs on the roster, one of whom may be our starting RB isn't knowing what you're doing. It's going all in under the scenario that Gonzo and Goodson will both be good to go a full 90. This of course is the most likely scenario but it's his job to plan for the unexpected.

By sending Brooks home early when he's actually needed, JK is putting Club needs ahead of the needs of the national team. FIFA, for this very reason, forbids clubs from failing to release players for international dates and yet JK is willingly collapsing to their demands.

If he's so gung-ho on not upsetting clubs then at least call in Gooch. Gooch is doing absolutely nothing right now and the only need for a 4th CB is in an absolute disaster at which point we would be pretty grateful to have another CB on the roster.

Alternatively, he could call up a young MLS CB like John or Berry to take a look or call up a vet like Bocanegra. Again, there should be no intention to actually use this player, it's simply protecting your team against the catastrophic scenario.

Yes, exactly. If he brings depth we can debate to the Nth degree whether its the right depth but as there is no depth we should all be terrified and praying that nothing goes wrong.

Klinsmann has been iffy on Beckerman starting in the WCQs since the debacle in Jamaica.. Plus I said he "could" not 100 percent will. Plus that Gold Cup might as well have been a distant memory. This is a WCQ vs Mexico. I believe Mix will start but I wont be shocked if Torres does.

Jones and Mix should and prob will be our starting CM's. Gonzo and Goodson pairing should get the job done for us.

So we brought Brooks half-way across the world, got killed, got a guy who plays his position suspended, and still didn't cap-tie him? Sheesh.

The point of calling him in was not to cap-tie him. It was another chance to acclimate him to the team.

I don't know if the call-up for Corona prevented him from playing tonight, but he sat the bench for the second straight Liga MX game. Corona has fallen far at Tijuana and I would argue Paul Arriola who continues to get minutes and starts should be rising up Klinsmann's depth chart.

Corona is not a RW, and really has seen more of the bench then the pitch for Tijuana lately. It's not looking good for Corona this year for club and Country. He has lot the startign role for Tijuana, and quite frankly hasn't looked good when played.

I will be shocked if Torres doesn't start. He's a direct and suitable replacement for the type of role Bradley has played at CM and he's been playing well every week against Mexican players. He's been wasted at LM and this is an opportunity to play him where he'll be most effective.

Beckerman is not a positive, attacking, calm-on-the-ball, play-producing CM. We have a drinking game at the local soccer bar: take a sip every time KB completes a forward pass. Plenty of beer left in the glass at the whistle. If anything, he's a backup to Jones at CDM.

JK called out Altidore in the post-game press conference. Altidore screwed up and you could tell JK was upset with the team's play but I hope that steam gets blown off and nothing lingers there.

Brooks is NOT ready to start at CB vs. Mexico. He's a guy that was brought into camp to develop, not lean on. As with any smart manager, I'm sure JK is playing the angles with his club, i.e.- I play nice and don't detain him on the nat team bench if you play nice and promise he'll have a legitimate shot at good playing time this year. Keeping that relationship strong (especially if there was a prior handshake to send him home early) and growing/grooming Brooks for future play is 1000 times more valuable than one WCQ of medium importance in the overall qualifying picture.

Goodson is healthy. We'll be fine.

Orozco was Bornsteinian against CR, Mexico will probably just toy with him. Goodson Gonzo are so slow, which makes me think Orozco slides inside and Goodson is there ti back up Gonzo.

I also agree that sending Brooks out against Mexico is a bit unfair, if he has a bad game or picks up an injury it not only looks bad on him, it might damage his club career, since the agreement was in place. Would have liked for him to be brought on just to cap tie him, but thats the fan talking in me, it would have been dumb to bring on a CB down 2-1.

Wouldve thought Kljestan over Corona, and JK must not really like Mix if he calls in three attacking CMs. Maybe he goes to a Mix Torres line up to see if he can get Mexico reeling early on.

Other than that getting a win would almost certainly qualify for the World Cup as Honduras should at least get a point from Panama.

My guess is with all the midfield heavy call ups is that fabian johnson gets moved back to left back. Bedoya could also be moved back to right back he has played wingback for nantes this whole season. I am hoping that this is what klinsmann is consedring doing. First thing against mexico if fabian johnson is moved to left back the right back needs to be more holding so unfortuanetly my guess is parkhurst makes the start. However after orozco fiscal performance if he can just be average that should be good enough. Extremly concerned about lack of cb depth for the mexico game I hope to god we dont pair up goodson with gonzalez but its starting to look that way.

Also klinsmann should have never made that agreement with hertha berlin every player called up should be able to go for two games we could have really used John Anthony Brooks for the mexico game. In midfield jermaine jones needs to be dropped I cant believe I will say this didnt think I ever would but I would even prefer beckerman to jones at this point jones has been consistently one of the worst players out on the field for the nats bosnia and costa rica game along with many others. If we could do a beckerman diskerud pairing or beckerman torres potentially I would be okay with those. However jones should not see the light of day after that costa rica performance. I will say this he does not give 100 percent for the yanks half the time it looks like he doesnt give a shit on the second costa rica goal he goes completly lazy giving bolanos pretty much a free header.

Wrong. Bedoya has played wingback in one game against PSG. In the other two he has played RW and CM.
