Goochs agent is wheeling and dealing. Plus him having an EU passport doesnt hurt.

I really don't get how they would afford him!

I pray to God the DP rule goes up this summer or even better American DP's are excluded from the DP rule!

Yeah I have no idea how they'd pull it off with three DPs (assuming they sign the third big name) and presumably Mix requiring a huge non-DP salary plus you'd have to think hat Gooch would command at least $200k for his name alone.

They could really use him if they could make it work. I don't know how much he has left in the tank as he barely played in the past year but surely he'd be better than what NYCFC is currently trotting out.

Lots of players train with a team just to get their name back in the headlines. Sometimes when a coach and player share an agent the agent gets the coach to do him a solid and let him train until a job opportunity pops up.

Right but if he's coming to MLS it would make sense to train with the team that could reasonably sign him. There are plenty of clubs in the league that could use his services. Unless you're suggesting that he's training with NYCFC to try and get his name out there to re-spark European interest? That's possible.

I am a bit surprised that he hasn't returned to Belgium over the past two years.
