Meh, "talks." He obviously is connected to Moyes from his days at Everton - I don't think this has that much weight to it. United is not in much need of a winger and I think, despite Moyes's departure to Old Trafford, that he still has some loyalty to Everton. A loan in the MLS off-season would be great for him, but between Valencia, Young, Nani, Giggs, etc., I just see it very hard for him to go to United (and get some serious playing time).

Well said. Moyes likes him which makes sense but the need isn't really there but if Moyes would have gone out to get Donovan, I would have to think that he would do so with the intention of playing him but of course Landon would have needed to perform at a high level.

"I'll be completely honest, watching them play Azerbaijan, inside, part of me was thinking, I hope the game doesn't go very well today. In my heart of hearts, I thought, if we get a 1-0 win and the team doesn't perform well, that would feel good." -Landon, past captain of the USA.

He said he decided that wasn't a good way to think so he changed his mind; however, watching some of his espn negative commentary he is obviously still extremely bitter.

His biggest issue is his honesty. I can imagine how hurt he must have been and in the moment I can understand why he would have those thoughts but why say this publicly? There is no reason for it.

He's one of my all time favorites and I am still adamant that Klinsmann made a mistake in leaving him off the 23 but I don't like what he offers in his media role. He's pretty monotonous and boring to listen to which makes me appreciate the charisma of Lalas and Twellman. At least their charisma entices me to hear them out and then vehemently disagree. I struggle to focus long enough to even hear Landon's arguments.

In my view he has nothing to play for anymore internationally.. This was his good bye even though I wanted him to keep going to 36-37. My all time favorite. Klinsmann had stated, don't know if he just said to say it, that he didn't want Donovan to close the door on the national team, but would he go? If you were him would you go? I think he might but I wouldn't if I was him.

If Donovan gets minutes with the USMNT after the World Cup, it will only be in a few friendlies. It's not going to be Jurgens M.O. to hang on to the old guard for long after the WC. To many young talent coming up that needs to be bloodied.

I have a feeling Jurgen will likely be looking at players like Green, Gyau, Agudelo, Boyd, Gil, and possibly keeping Yedlin in the attack for those September Friendlies.

I agree with this 2Tone, because Jurgen was slowly dying inside as we ran around and chased Ghana and then Germany. He hates playing like this.

Who would we more like to imitate, Belgium or Colombia (two up and coming teams wioth young players)?

This quote for him should make sure he never suits up for USA again. So classless. It's like being pinch hit for in baseball and hoping he strikes out. Dude your part if a team. Root for your teammates. Such a clown.

I believe LD has played his last meaningful match for the USMNT, but I also believe he will play for the US one more time.

I have a feeling the USSF will organize a testimonial friendly in order to honor his contribution to the USMNT team.

I have no doubt that the World Cup was a major motivating milestone in Donovan's return from sabbatical. Having missed out on Brazil and having secured the MLS All Time leading scorer, Landon doesn't haven't any more major milestones to play for. Yes, I'm sure he'll give it his all to help LA win another title but that's he's already been a MLS champion.

I think these past two weeks could go either way. Sure, the MLS was simply on a short break and Landon is already playing for the Galaxy again but his stint with ESPN gave him a flavor of what life will be like after he hangs up his cleats.

He might have found new inspiration to play a few more years in the league while he is still able to contribute at a high level, afterall he's only 32. Or he might be completely done and call it quits as soon as the end of this season. I hope its the former.

I hate to say I told ya so, but...I told ya so.

Klinsmann announces 23 man roster on May 22nd. In LA's next two matches, Lando scores 3 goals. So many people start with the "This is what you're leaving behind", "Look at how well he's playing", etc. I (along with a few other smart folk), said the only reason he was playing like that was because he finally had a reason to try. He was rightfully left off the 23 man roster because he didn't really give a shit anymore. And for those two games, he looked great.

Guess what he's done in his last 6 matches? 1 assist. The outrage over Landon not being selected died down, the spotlight shifted to the ACTUAL 23 guys in Brazil, and Landon has gone back to playing relatively mediocre football. He played well in 2 games because he finally had some passion back inside him. Unfortunately for him, people stopped caring that he wasn't on the 23 man roster. So he's gone back to playing like he has all season.

Jurgen made some great calls that were vindicated during the World Cup. Jurgen also made some bad calls. This, in my opinion, was a good call. Landon didn't deserve to be there.

Your a hater that's all. Is not just about scoring and stats, he does other things you abviously don't notice. If your gonna come again with your idiotic comments don't come to certain threads. He is playing in a different position lately. What has Brad Davis done ??? Exactly!!

It took me a bit to figure out that you hadn't just quoted me and not said anything. Nice try, though.

And I agree, Davis was shit at the WC. Played just about as well as Landon would've. If you wanna know what Davis has done since the World Cup...

I think LD has a little more than he's currently showing. The season lasts an eternity. He's going through the motions until they need to make a playoff push and fine tune the form of the team.

It will interesting how he looks in the all star game...maybe he'll perk up playing with the MLS nats players. I think he's bored silly playing another endless MLS season...I honestly think he'll hang'em up after next season.

You know where he wouldn't be bored? England. Germany. Where he should have been playing all along.

For fuck's sake. You Lando deniers have been telling us Lando fans to get over it and move on we have. Why do you keep bringing it up? We see his gut every game. The guy's morbidly obese. Of course he doesn't have the fire he used to have. You don't have to keep belaboring the point.
