If Gyau returns to full health and ability I'm sure he'd be loaned/sold to a decent/good team. A fully healthy Gyau and an additional year of experience for Pulisic may be good enough that Fabian would be moved back to LB (still a position of considerable need). Leaving Bedoya, Zusi, Zardes Lleget & Finlay fighting it out for backup roles.

---------Jozy--------
-Gyau----Nagbe------Pulisic-
----Cameron----Bradley-----
-Fabian---Brooks---Miazga---Yedlin-
--------Guzan--------

Bench: Horvath, Yarbrough, Villafana/Shea, Besler, Williams, Hyndman, Wood, Lleget, Zardes....
Still need backups at RCB & RB....leaving 1 spot open for a project/veteran player. This would be a very flexible tournament squad with a number of players able to shift around in case of injury, formation and/or based on who our opponents may be. Team has speed, technical ability and a good mix of experience and youth.

Possibly. But He has enough ability to where if he got back to 100% and fulfilled all of it that he could at least be a rotational Sub player for Dortmund. Probably doesn't happen. Much more like that if he returns to full health that he is sold to a lower tier Bundesliga team and becomes a starter for them, if he fulfills some of his potential.
Either way he will/could be our best option on the Right side.

I dream of this in 2022:
Horvath
Yedlin - Miazga - Brooks - Payne
Gyau - Hyndman - Pulisic
Morris - Wood - Keisewetter

All Starters in Top Euro leagues (Eredivisie and better).

@usagunner- we've done these before and it's funny how many names change. Lots of talent out there. Players like Perez, Rubin, CCV, EPB and many others. Interesting to see this years offseason for Joe Gyau. Hoping he can make the grade at Dortmund but he may be another Holden unfortunately. He'd be lucky to just make another cap in my view that would be a win; not a sympathy or pity cap, but a real one. I got my fingers crossed for him.

I think how the names have been changing, shows the increasingly level of talent we have in our talent pool. When we are leaving off names that are with Top 10 Euro Teams (Zelalem, CCV, EPB, etc). that's a great sign.

Don't know if this was posted elsewhere but Joe has signed an 18 month deal with SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the German 3rd division. He is there along with Mario Rodriguez (on loan from Dynamo Dresden) and David Yelldell.

OK, can the Gyau lovers finally admit the dude has no future w/ USMNT? Injuries are a bitch.

I am concerned more about his club career. He needs to stop it already with Germany and try a different country. In this case, come to the MLS in the good ole USA, and try to get a consistent run of games (the most important thing for him).

True, it's not looking good for Josh Gatt either. God, those two used to be the next big things.

I suppose I'll be the optimist here.

How many clubs would take a chance on a player with 2 knee injuries? It may have been the best/only opportunity for him. You need to get on the field to prove yourself. It was a January move so clearly Dortmund had moved on from him and he needed a fresh start.

As for his USMNT chances...they would improve if he transferred to MLS. It is still a possibility he could transfer to MLS once the window opens in June.

To be honest, Gatt popped out of nowhere right, it wasn't like J flores expectations... Gyau was an early prostpect, him and renken, I thought theyw ere goign to change the game..but alas both suffered severe
setbacks

i bet the German third division is surprisingly good. Let him get a year under his belt and move up to the second division. At best he will turn it around, good luck to him.

@hamsamwich - I wouldn't call the German 3rd division good. But the advantage of him playing there is that if he plays well he could easily attract the attention of coaches/scouts from the German 2nd division or other leagues (Dutch, Belgium, etc...).
If he doesn't play well he'll still have MLS to fall back-on.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
