Why shouldn't Grau be a starter going forward. He's officially our highest quality team playing American.

Of course but you just dont want to give him the starting 11 spot now. You want him to earn it and fight for it. He is only American that is earning minutes on the one of biggest team so yea he has to be in the roster from now on and show that he can be effective for us as well.
MY point is not to rush guys to the NT. We have had that before and doesnt turn out great but JK knows how to move and keep the youth players on ground.

He will be out there in game 2 against Honduras you would have to think. I'd like to see him given a chance to play just in front of Yedlin and let's create that partnership down the right early on in the cycle.

RB slot is Fabian Johnson's spot going forward. There is no reason to create that partnership. Fabian is more likely to be RB in Russia than Yedlin. Chandler at LB.

If Gyau is the better player, and he is, then he starts. Plain and simple. 21 is not "young" in soccer, no matter what MLS trys to tell you(re: 24 under 24).

I would also think that Gyau should be rewarded to show others if you push yourself you'll be rewarded

While 21 may not be "Young" in soccer....it is not "Old" either. What we should be hoping for in Gyau is a player who will continue to EARN minutes with his club and that those minutes increase month after month. By the summer of 2016 the USMNT will look significantly different than that seen in 2014. There will be a lot of very talented players entering into their formative years (22-26) as players....
Gyau, Yedlin, Brooks, Packwood, Trapp, Kitchen, Agudelo, Canouse, Stanko, Hyndman, Gall, Rubin, Gatt, Shipp, etc....
Add in experienced players like Bradley, Fabian, Besler, Guzan, Jozy, Chandler, Cameron, Diskerud, Gonzalez, Williams, Edu, Torres, etc....

Things are going to be very exciting over the next 4 years as the players in the pool get better, the team will play a more attractive style, and the team will become more competitive.

My thing with Gyau is this... name a better RW in the current pool. Maybe Zusi? I'm not hyping Gyau just yet, but he's solid and he's our best bet going forward. Also our first glimpse into the speedy wingers we've been looking for. I say he gets the go.

a lineup of

-----Jozy
Gyau-Dempsey-Yedlin
Bradley-Jones
Chandler-Cameron-Gonzo-Fabian

Seems possible for 2015 Gold Cup.

Gyau is going to get time with the USMNT. No questions asked. Just got to hope that he'll stay with Dortmunds first team.

People, it's 2014, two friendlies to end the year! Why is everyone arguing whether or not Gyau should be the starter? Just let him get playing time, whether from start of match or coming off the bench, I don't care which! No One should feel they are starter no mater what, even players like Dempsey! It's a new cycle so time to look at EVERY possible player and if/how they can best help the NT!

I disagree. More minutes with the senior team for Gyau only helps his game, which in turn helps him get more minutes with Dortmund. Only way I dont want to see him get major minutes is if he's either nursing an injury or if they dont want to fatigue him.

I look at Fabian as a midfielder so there you go. There is a reason to create that partnership- speed and technical ability. I thought Yedlin proved he could handle RB and will continue to do so.

Fabian rarely plays RB for Monchengladbach. I don't see him as a RB going forward at all. You have two players right now that are playing RB for their respective teams i.e. Chandler and Yedlin.

For me Fabian should be moved to LB or to one of the winger spots.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
