Ok, so 0.1% of players who do it end up well. Guess that 99.9% is just a stupid idea.

I love this dumb argument. Of course its a good thing for him to be at Dortmund, competing against the "best" or whatever it is we all consider Dortmund to be. Top-echelon we can safely say that. If Joe Gyau had stayed in America, he'd be playing first team in the MLS. But then everyone would say, "Gotta go test yourself in Europe". I like the risk both he and Jurgen Klopp are taking this time. If Gyau really does aim for the stars, he just might wind up getting a higher transfer fee in the future than Jozy did from Sunderland. Or he may never play. No one here knows, it's all in how Joe can adapt to that high of a level. And most teams have a U-23 for a reason, because that's the last stage of development before first team soccer. All of a sudden people are worried about next year. Perhaps Joe can get on the field during some of the Bundesliga games, as Dortmund have to worry about the UCL as well.

Stupid Luis Gil for rejecting Arsenal in favor of actual gametime. Stupidly developing into a good player quickly. My fault, I made a dumb argument.

So what you are saying is Luis Gil would walk into Dortmund first team, because he has played in MLS? That is dumb. People still have their questions about Luis as far as I can tell. I'm a fan of Luis by the way, but your comparison is bad as well. Luis Gil was young at that time, and it was a good decision as he would have been like Campbell, who was played in like 5 countries while still not getting a sniff of first team Arsenal, or also Carlos Vela.

The second half of your point is invalid seeing as Campell and Vela are both quality players. Aresenal wanted Vela back after a few great seasons in Spain and Campell will get his chance this year. That being said I agree that luis is a good prospect but not there yet.

If Arsenal went for Luis Gil now (they wouldn't and he would get denied visa probably), he would jump at the chance. And then become a loanee like the two players I mentioned above. But I didn't bring up Luis Gil as it is not a good comparison for Gyau. He is at a club who have turned relative no names like Lewandowski and Kagawa into big time players. And a host of other players who are still there who Joe will be competing against. Jurgen Klopp (much like Wenger) buys low and sells high and is willing to play these guys. Sounds like Joe Gyau to me in a nutshell. Yes Joe has to beat out other very talented players, but that's the whole point. To be the best you have to beat the best, and at age 22 or 23 or whatever Joe is, I believe he is ready for that challenge. You have to think Jurgen thinks its a fantastic choice.

It's like he took the college route so it is not that bad. I think this way is even better cause college level sucks and it's only for a few months not even a year. So if he gets first teamm minutes at 22-24, he'll be good.

**** Joe is 21, and will turn 22 in late September. He had 15 appearances for FC St Pauli first team in 2 Bundesliga, and had 2 appearances for Hoffenheim in the actual Bundesliga.

I would like to see Joe called up to USMNT to see how he has progressed. You can't really tell when watching him play garbage teams in Germany. Even a 25 minute end of game cameo would be enough to get a sense in the Sept friendly. I mean common, how many wingers do we have?

Too good for BIII, but still not ready for B1. Two goals today with reserves.

That's his dilemma, he should have tried to stay at Hoffenheim for one more season or try to be loaned out to a 2. Bundesliga or a newly-promoted club to the top Bundesliga. Challenge himself.

He made a huge good impression with Jurgen Klopp in pre-season. So as long as he continues to play well with BVBII, I would say he has a good shot at getting called up to the first team this year. Reus is still injured, Mikhitaryan hasn't exactly lit things up for Dortmund, and players get injured.

He needs to continue to score goals and dominate.
