Yep it will be hard for him to break into the first team, but all he can do is show well in pre-season, and it seems he is doing just that. Injuries happen throughout a season, so I am not discounting him making the first team at some point for Dortmund.

Conceivable he gets firs team minutes in the early stages of the DFB-Pokal.

Yeah it's a pretty solid team with quite a few first teamers in the starting 11.

Here is the starting 11:

Bonmann; Piszczek, Subotic, Stankovich, Schmelzer; Kirch, Bender; Gyau, Hoffmann, Ji; Aubameyang

Would love to see him get a run out with Mhkitaryan at CAM. Regardless, good for him, he's getting some great opportunities so far.

from the live ticker, via Google Translate:

So far, most notably on the part of Dortmund is Joseph Gyau. Many offensive actions, but even two or three unnecessary defensive fouls.

Really glad to see him getting props.

so far he is impressing which can set him up for next season if he kills it at BVB II. He can become part of the 18 if he can keep it going and stay healthy. Reus wont stay with BVB after this season. Heck he almost left this season.

Lol. This is what I've been thinking all along. It's great that Dortmund is interested in him, and is giving him opportunities. But the guy needs to start. Unless he lights Dortmund II on fire, I can't see him breaking into the first team XI.

I think you cant rule anything out at this moment. Gyau could be better then we give him credit for or is just in the zone because its still preaseason but I hope he can be in Dortmunds XI in 2-3 years. Truth is if there is injuries in Dortmund he might get called if he continues to play well for now and through the season

This needs to be clarified. A player who is garnering consideration to see minutes for one of the better national teams in the world should not be starting first team soccer at age 24. If he were a guy that would never be close to seeing the pitch for the USMNT, I'd say go ahead and be a late bloomer. But 24 is too old to finally start seeing consistent first team minutes if you are going to try and break in to the USMNT.

I think there can always be exceptions to the rule. If last year he went to Austrian league to start would he be a better prospect? How many of our pool players could get 1st team minutes for a UCL caliper top 4 team at any age? I don't care if he doesn't play a first team minute the next two years. If he is starting for BVB by 2017 how can you cross him off the list? Again how many players currently in the pool have a path to UCL football ?

Starting for a team like BVB that finished 2nd in a champion league tournament at age 24 is pretty darn good even if you had to wait a bit.
Its not a Brek SHea situation where he might never start for a team like Stoke he needs to be playing 1st team week in and out.

Gyau might get a loan if he tears it up in BVB II

Emanuel Giaccherani bounced around 3rd division teams until he was 23 and didnt play first division italian football until he was 25 years old. Dado Prso was a great croatian footballer who didnt make it to the first division of football until he was 27 years old and his national team when he was 29. Also how can you guys forget about jay Demerit who was one of our better performers in South Africa. Also there is the stories of Rickie Lambert, Dider Drogba didnt even really start player as a footballer until he was 21. Nobody is too old to break into a national team no matter the nationality of the player. For every player that might not make it there are good players who came out of nowhere. Now I am not saying Gyau wont be as good as them. He has access to an elite club the possibilities are there for him I will not write off any players until it seems obvious they will never be called up.
